Peugeot-Citroen capitalise off Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is planning to take PSA/Peugeot-Citroen on board as they strive towards the revolution of the electric car. Mitsubishi has been working on a 'Global Small' platform for some time as the development on their first electric car, the i-MiEV, continues.

The French company hopes to produce their own savvy-titled version of the i-MiEV in Europe later this year, if the merge goes ahead. Dubbed the 'iOn' and 'C-Zero', the cars will be thoroughly based on Mitsubishi's battery-powered i-MiEV.

French newspaper, Les Echos business daily, has reported the international 'hand-shake' could be finalised very soon.

There's also been talks of the two companies swapping stakes over the 'Global Small' production plant, to be built in Thailand, but such plans have since been binned due to economic conditions.
