2010 HSV ClubSport CS special edition celebrates 20 years

Holden Special Vehicles is celebrating 20 years of the ClubSport with the launch of the “20 Years of ClubSport” HSV CS ClubSport, a special edition vehicle limited to just 100 examples.

The CS ClubSport features HSV performance suspension, 20in millennium silver Pentagon alloys and leather seats, as well as a “CS ClubSport” decal on the rear window in a modern take on the original VN badge.

HSV general manager of sales, Darren Bowler, said he expected the limited edition ClubSport to be highly sought-after by the HSV faithful.

“With this level of value add at no additional cost we anticipate the 100 vehicles will move very quickly and good luck to the person who manages to grab No.1 in the model build,” Mr Bowler said.

He said City Motors HSV in Perth recorded the highest HSV vehicle sales in 2009 and had subsequently been rewarded with retailing the No. 1 vehicle.

The ClubSport name first appeared as a permanent model in the HSV range in June, 1990 with the launch of the 180kW/400Nm 5.0-litre VN ClubSport. Just 410 were built, and they started at $33,320 for the manual and $34,140 for the automatic.

Following the original 5.0-litre was the 5.7-litre LS1, the 6.0-litre LS2 and the current 6.3-litre LS3, which produces 317kW of power and 550Nm of torque and is the top-selling model in the line-up.

HSV’s Tim Jackson said given the ClubSport’s more modest beginnings, the decision was made to celebrate the anniversary with a “back-to-basics” approach.

“If we step back 20 years to 1990, this really was a watershed year for the HSV brand. Not only did we introduce our first ClubSport model in June but 1990 also represented our first Bathurst victory with the Holden Racing Team, who are also celebrating 20 years of success this year.

“The ClubSport has such great history and meaning within our business, and it has always been our purists’ vehicle – bringing track focused performance and handling to a road vehicle,” Mr Jackson said.

The 20 Years of ClubSport limited edition CS model will appear in Australian HSV dealer showrooms from late June, and will be priced from $66,690 for the manual and $68,690 for the automatic.
