Porsche Panamera racecar seen on track

Aston Martin’s Rapide won’t be the only four-door sports car that you’ll see on the racetrack. Monaco based N. Technology has been preparing a Porsche Panamera S for its debut in the upcoming Superstars Series in Germany next weekend.

Normally purchased as a high-speed luxury GT car, this particular Panamera S has a few modifications that should make it a particularly quick car on track.

Although the same naturally aspirated V8 is still employed, power has been boosted from 400 (298 kW) to 450 (335 kW) horsepower.

And while that might not seem like an earth shattering increase in power, given the stock Panamera Turbo develops 500 hp, it is when you realise this particular car has shed over 550 kilograms and weighs in at a thoroughly anorexic 1320 kilograms.

In order to achieve this massive weight loss, the body panels were replaced with carbon fibre panels and a set 18-inch magnesium wheels

The standard rear wheel drive has been maintained, but a six-speed sequential manual box has replaced Porsche’s seven-speed dual clutch PDK gearbox.

The race car also uses three-way adjustable dampers, while carbon ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers take care of the stopping power.

The Superstar Series is a spectacular form of motorsport with a bunch of high performance eye candy represented, including Mercedes C63 AMG, Cadillac CTS-V, Jaguar XF, BMW M3 E90 & E92, Maserati Quattroporte, BMW M5, Audi RS4, Chrysler 300C SRT8 and Chevrolet Lumina CR8.
