Volkswagen Polo Sedan Unveiled

Following the launch of the new Volkswagen Polo hatchback in Australia, the sedan variant has been officially unveiled today in Moscow.

Volkswagen has built the Polo initially just for the Russian market with the new sedan being produced on a new assembly line at the German company's plant in Kaluga (western Russia).

It's powered by a 1.6-litre 77 kW unit that can be coupled to either a 5-gear manual gearbox or a 6-gear automatic gearbox (Tiptronic).

The reason for the Polo sedan is the Russian's general dislike of all things hatchback. The vehicle is currently only being produced in left-hand drive so it will be unlikely that we will see a sedan variant in Australia in the near future (Volkswagen Australia has been contacted for comment - will update once we hear back).

Have a look at our previous computer renderings of the Polo Sedan. The real deal looks very similar!

It will retail in Russia for just a tad over 10,000 euro ($14,600).
