As the 2011 BMW M5 continues its gruelling testing regime, the brand is also putting its more subdued doppelganger through its paces as it evaluates the M-Sport pack for the new BMW 5 Series before launch.

The M-Sport package will make its debut in Paris later this year alongside its inspiration – the BMW M5 – offering the aggressive demeanour of the snarling performance flagship without the go.

A few key design omissions differentiate the M-Sport equipped BMW 5 Series from the actual M5, including the lack of quad-exhaust outlets, side vents and the enormous brake package which would otherwise feature on the M5.

Fortunately many of the goodies from the M5 remain, such as the new front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper and bigger wheels.

M, M Sport 550i. Any of the new 5 Series would be awesome in my driveway. I am quietly waiting for it.
