FPV GT Cobra 302kW RSpec

With Ford’s outstanding Bathurst victory over the weekend, it’s near perfect timing for the Cobra to make a comeback, and as expected, FPV has today confirmed details of the 302kW Cobra we discussed last week.
There will be 400 sedans and 100 utes, all powered by a refined 302kW Boss V8.
In 1978 Ford released a limited edition Cobra XC Hardtop thanks to the victory of the Ford Falcon XC Hardtop at the 1977 Bathurst 1000 race.
“The Cobra name invokes passion among motoring enthusiasts, and now 30 years after the famous 1-2 win at Bathurst, the new FPV GT Cobra offers the exclusivity of Cobra ownership to a new generation of car owners,” said FPV General Manager Rod Barrett.
Although most car manufacturers release special edition models with interior updates and more features, Ford has done what everyone has asked ford, they have upped the power.
Both sedan and ute models will be powered by FPV’s latest high performance Boss 5.4-litre quad-cam 32 valve V8 engine producing 302 kW of power and 540 Nm of torque.
The power increase comes as a result of stainless steel fabricated exhaust manifolds and a high-flow dual exhaust system.
The GT Cobra is equipped with a limited slip differential and FPV’s innovative R Spec handling package while being available in either a close ratio six-speed manual transmission with a high torque clutch or the ZF six-speed automatic transmission with Sequential Sports Shift.
Of course there will only be one colour, white with blue stripes. The stripes cover the the bonnet, roof and rear deck lid. The GT Cobra also receives a unique Cobra badge on each front fender and the rear deck lid. The GT Cobra will also include exclusive R Spec badging.
Standard equipment for both variants include leather seats with coiled Cobra snake logo, limited edition 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with white accents and a machined face finish wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 245/35ZR tyres
The GT Cobra sedan will have a recommended retail price of $65,110, while the Cobra Ute will be priced at $61,200.

I think that’s the thing Toyota Paul just doesn’t get. The passion these cars invoke. They don’t have to be the best cars in the world, as long as they aren’t as boring as batshit.

Had to do an 8 hour shift today because we’re behind. I missed watching the Saloon cars on SBS Trackside. My bro tells me there’s hardly any VT’s in there now because the AU’s always flog them, drivers keep switching to AU. That tells me how nobbled the AU was in V8Supercars.

The new Alfa Romeo Brera is displayed in the studio. It could be the best-looking car that money can buy today. The other car on display is the Aston Martin DBR9 with an all carbon fibre body so it weighs nearly a ton less than the standard DB9. It is given a test on the track by The Stig.

Guy on the F/Forums says he has just ordered his Phase 5 thats coming out in 2009 !Sure mate! He reckons he saw pics and it has 351 kws he ahs the paper work and will the forum tomorrow night! In 2008 thats it Ford cant increase the grunt till 2010 due to the new emissions crap happening! So 2009 I think hes dreaming!

Hey everone FPV have to told us they are not going to do anything about the fulse advertising. They wont be giving out the mats or the cobra badge for the boot and as for the MP3 port the said they are available to buy. GRRRRR
the new GTHO will have a lot more than 351kw’s….. im hanging out for that car it is going to be great!
Even the F6 rSpec includes the MP3 & special mats according to the website.
Maybe thats a mistake too.

at this point in time nothing would suprise me. We are not happy surely if everyone complains about it they have to do some thing. i just can’t believe they said the were willing to take the flake for it but are still not going to do any thing.

I think that we should all complain to the ACCC about this as it is false advertising and misrepresentation.
FPV can’t just sit back and say too bad, they screwed up. The other thing FPV told me was that there will be no official notice given to owners, so they are just trying to hope that they can withdraw the information slowly.
Wonder if we can talk someone in China into making them then?
400 samples maybe 500 for a few spares? FPV would sell them at $200 a set………what are they going to cost us to make them there??? $50 US a set??? Could get them stuck in the next container coming over before XMAS ! Normal time is around 60 days manufacturing time!
How much did FPV make from the sales of these Cobras..would have to be a record for 400 cars! I will start Alibaba “ing tonight for carpet manufactures looking for prices it could have cost FPV to keep a few Cobra owners happy!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t forget the utes they may have the badge on the back but they don’t have the mats either. not sure about the mp3 port. That’s a lot of un happy customers not to mention that at least 80% of the people who bought these cars are true Ford fans. doesn’t make a very good impression now does it.
True forgot about the UTES! Off to Alibaba to search for carpet manufacturers in China…….where the original mats gone from the pics previously provided? In someones office at FPV????
there never were pictures of the mats. Don’t forget FPV have never provided pitures of the car other than the out side. it was the flyers that were given out at the sydney motor show and a copy on the net that STATED the car came with the mats. And they have now said that it was never there intention to provide them. to bad just about everyone was expecting them. Can ua tell we’re upset yet. Tara

The other idea I had was getting FPV mats, maybe getting them embroided somehow.

We don’t want to infringe on copyright or we maybe left paying royalties to FPV for MATS we should have got! With no reference to the FPV logo you would think we would be ok!

guys try trufit carpet mats in victoria… they already do a cobra mat like your suggesting….
it needs to be simple but classy.. the 40th anniversary mats were quite nice.. the had “40th Anniversary” embroidered and it looked goodd.. so I think maybe something simple like the snake and maybe Cobra GT would be nice
yeah i think both would be nice. the snake in the middle of the mat with Cobra GT down the bottom maybe.

Tara.. still hasnt had the stripes fixed.. after the email I recieved from FPV saying I had to buy floor mats, and the crappy timing in getting this car delivered I would think my next car might be a toyota again!!! A friend of mine used to complain to me about an XR8 lemon he bought which went back 30 plus times for warranty work and he said FPV/Ford service sucked.. I used to ignore it but I am starting to think he was right!!!
yeah i know it’s fustrating we still don’t know when ours is arriving either. and the whole mat thing is very dissapointing even after speaking to one of the big wigs at FPV we couldn’t get them to change there mind about the mats. and i was starting to feel the same but i’ve always had fords and the dealer up here got one of there utes today so i went and had a look made me feel a bit better. As for your friends lemon unfortunatly you can get them in any make it’s just bad luck. and service well that’s another issue atleast down there you have more than one dealer up here there is only one. Once you sit in it for the first time you’ll feel better.:)
MMMMMMM,that new car smell,tell what if someone could bottle that new car smell for chicks to put on themselves instead of flowery perfume ,I reckon most girls would go home with a guy on a Saturday night.Guys hate flowers so why dot hey make perfume that smells like them?

By the sound of it they haven’t delivered to many at all i’m a bit confused about why they’ve been held up is it a problem with the sedan because ute’s still seemed to be arriving at dealers ??? Tara

I’ve got a Cober coming (maybe) in Nov sometime and I,m really looking forward to it.
I also have a GT-P BA MkII which I bought new and am keeping so that I may be able to breed from them.
So with this previous experience, I’m here to tell you that the build quality from FPV is CRAP! Sorry, I love my car but I’ll call em as I see em. I was lucky, my dealer fixed all the problems and was as peed off as I was but didn’t argue. I’ll give my dealer 10/10 but FPV should be kept back after school to learn to have some pride in their work.
Back to the Cobra. The dealer has been honest with me and not giving me any false hopes about delivery dates or build numbers. They will arrive when they arrive and the choice of build numbers are the ones available in the dealers yard and you’ll have to compete against the other cobra buyers the dealer has on the books.
True only the early purchases like us got a choice of numbers
Agree also on the BA quality we are much happier with the new Cobra,its now done over 4600 klms in a few weeks!

Cobra 045 I think is also ordering one!Giving it to him for his birthday,bit of a surprise .He wants a new diff for the XA and cause it currently has nodular locker and with 345 Pirellis on the back, its hard to turn around corners! Trying to get the ratio is the hard bit too!
