Audi A1 flips over

In what could only be described as a marketing misfire, this Audi A1 rolled over while trying to climb a quarter pipe in a publicity stunt at Cinqunantenaire Park in Brussels recently.

We’re not quite sure what the point of this exercise was, but the Audi had been giving test rides on the ‘pipe’ trying to demonstrate that the car could manoeuvre as well as a skateboard.

Big mistake. If you’ve ever been to the Extreme Games and witnessed what a pro can do on a skateboard, you wouldn’t go anywhere near a pipe in a passenger car.

We're only thankful that Audi didn’t attempt this exercise on a half pipe, as the end result could have been catastrophic.

The program was apparently going well enough until a stunt driver nosed the A1 into the wall on day four, and the car just flipped over on its side.

Apparently Audi employees rushed to the scene and pushed the car back over, freeing the driver and front passenger. They then covered up the car and rolled it out of public view.

Sometimes these things go wrong (just ask Volvo) but it’s probably best to get the engineers who built the car involved in any future marketing stunts involving skateboard tricks.
