BMW M3 GTS now right-hand-drive, but not for Australia

BMW's stonking new M3 GTS, the pinnacle of all M3s, is now being made in right-hand-drive. Australia, however, will miss out due to Australian Design Rules (ADRs).

Speaking with CarAdvice this afternoon, BMW Australia's PR & Corporate Communications Manager, Mr Piers Scott, explained "that it's too loud and too low."

CarAdvice reported recently that the M3 GTS would not be made in right-hand-drive, but since then things have changed, customer demand putting pressure on the German company.

"Between 30 and 40 cars will be built, mainly due to demand from the UK," said Mr Scott, "but unfortunately, Australia's ADRs prevent us from being able to licence it here."

"I'm aware of one Australian customer who has expressed interest in purchasing an M3 GTS, but as far as I know, he'll keep it garaged in the UK," said Mr Scott.

Again, Australia's draconian laws prevent us from enjoying motoring nirvana.
