All-New Nissan X-Trail
October 5, 2007 by George Skentzos
The all-new Nissan X-Trail is set to make its debut in the coming week at the Australian International Motor Show where from October 11-21 where it will also go on-sale.
It still boasts the same qualities which made its predecessor so successful, but it is now larger in all dimensions.
For the first time, the X-Tail is available with an optional CVT automatic transmission which increases drivability and reduces fuel consumption.
Don’t think for a moment, this is just another soccer-mum taxi, the X-Trail also features an “intelligent” ALL MODE 4×4-i four-wheel drive system as well as a revised version of the proven 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine which is a complimentary balance of power and efficiency.
Power may have only slightly increased to 125kW and 226Nm, however it is the revised torque curve which improves power delivery and mid-range response whilst maintaining fuel efficiency.
The X-Trail is available in three model grades – ST, ST-L and range topping Ti – all of which feature ESP and Stability and Traction Control with Active Brake Limited Slip for safety on road, as well as hill descent control and hill start assist when tackling rough terrain.
All models are equipped with four-wheel disc ABS brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA).
Passive safety is enhanced with dual front, front side and full-length curtain airbags on all models, along with front active headrests, side intrusion bars and a collapsible steering column.
MacPherson strut suspension at the front, and a multi-link system at the rear offers a more refined, comfortable ride, while efficiency and handling are assisted by the adoption of electric power steering. Despite the larger body, the new X-TRAIL retains the same 10.6-metre turning circle as the previous model.
There is space for five passengers as well as a luggage area that can be expanded to a maximum of 1773 litres when the new 40/20/40 rear seats are folded and the clever two-level floor with its sliding drawer is removed.
Standard creature comforts in the all new X-TRAIL models are a trip computer, exterior temperature gauge, cruise control, height-adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, power windows, keyless entry, 12-volt cargo area power outlet, cargo area tie-down hooks and roof rails.
ST-L and Ti models gain 17-inch alloy wheels, climate-control air-conditioning, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and a six-speaker sound system with six-stack, in-dash MP3-capable CD player, while the Ti comes with a glass sliding power sunroof, heated front leather seats with power adjustment and rear parking sensors.
Pricing
X-Trail ST $31,990 Manual $33,990 CVT Auto
X-Trail ST-L $35,990 Manual $37,990 CVT Auto
X-Trail Ti $38,990 Manual $40,990 CVT Auto

DONNA…keep wording on level playing field to clear problem on our car and nothing else as your comments are clearly DIVERSION away from issue.
COMMENT PLEASE AND LEAVE SECOND AND THIRD PARAGRAPHS OUT OF YOUR RESPONSES (as per your post 8.37pm) OUT OF ANY ADDITIONAL COMMENTS.
AWAITING COMMENTS ON “CLEAR MANUFACTURING PROBLEM” OF THIS MODEL AND NOT YOUR PERSONAL COMMENTS ON THAT WARM FUZZY FEELING YOU HAVE ON CAR!
Had to post anti spam word was BMWM5……hehehehe
So I guess Dazzaaaaaaaaa……..will be back next with yet another oooooo so convincing story! Oh thats right he was the salesman! Anyone going to ring her dealership tomorrow to see if Dazz works there?? Or Donna hahaha
Max & Missile,
How would someone know why your car rattled and their’s didn’t???
Give it a rest. Good for her that she’s happy with her purchase, and had a good run out of her old model.
We are not talking of sqeaking trim or rattle in dah wherever. My point is the seat backrest pin that locked onto body mechanism had very sloopy tolerance as pin was lot less diameter then inside of locking mechanism and this finish is identical in her X-Trail.
You would clearly make sense if it was a rattle in dash. Then I would not comment once!
typo…. dash wherever
Guys just let it go . . .
Im still standing in the corner like a good girl though !!!
I am watching collectors!!!
AMUSED ONLOOKER….gee have sighted you on other posts, you seem to hover around Donna’s great review…….LOL
…typo. That is have NOT sighted you on other posts
Geeze theres some knobs on this site. More than just something loose on your car.
please this is tragic.cars do lots of things to lots of people.bit like a great burger or not getting one!very personal. U tools(and everyone knows who you are!) are being foolish and sould like you have no life.I want facts about the Xtrail not views that are unfounded or personal. It is very offensive what you have said bout Donna, she seems to be in a better place anyway.Kluger is dearer than the xtrail ti,and I mean by thousands.sure it is a good car but people do have a budget.I personally can choose from a wide price range.I just keep going back to the fantastic, comfy interior of the Xtrail.None of them are really pretty, yes the mazda is a great car but looks like a cane toad and Honda is a sleek machine but visually dull.In all honesty don’t all cars go in the year 2008? I just want a normal review please, is there anybody out there…………….
NM, big man, hassling chicks over your rattly seat. Hop on an ant and ride away.
The design looks like 20 years old car. Maybe they’e going for that “vintage” fashion look.
I have a xtrail ti 2003 no rattle in rear seat at 76000klms 1 rattlein dash under left air bag. only other problem slight shudder when braking from about 100 klm even after changeing front rotors wondering if in abs sytems. as for fuel consumption may as well own a v8 8.6klm per lt 6.5klm towing a lightweight van 950kgs other than that a very nice vehicle to drive ps its an auto.
No doubts, the new x-trail has come out with some nice new features like diesel 6MT option. However, the eye stabbing ugliness of the headlights simply can’t make me “feel” any respect for this vehicle. Take a look at new audi suv or Touareg, the whole suv made so smooth and pleasing to eyes.
Nissan x-trail must redesign their super ugly headlights and make them a bit narrower, slantier and more stylish if they want more buyers for this vehicle which is awesome by all means except for the ugliest headlights ever seen…
HORACE FROM JAMAICA: OWNS X TRAIL SINCE 2003. A GREAT VEHICLE OVERALL. CHANGED RADIATOR UNDER WARRANTY IN 2005, WHEEL BEARING 2008; NO OTHER REPLACEMENT APART FROM REGULAR SERVICING. JUST COMPLETE 85,000KM. RECENTLY STARTS TO VIBRATE WHENEVER REVERSE OR DRIVE IS SELECTED ESPECIALLY WHEN THE AC IS ON.HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM? ANY ADVICE AS TO THE POSSIBLE CAUSE?
