By Garreth Miers |

Owning a Mercedes Van just got more appealing.
Mercedes-Benz has announced they will bring just 60 of the latest limited edition Vito Models into Australia. This new model has been launched to celebrate the Vito’s recent 5 star ANCAP safety rating and achievements at the 2009 Classic Adelaide Tarmac Rally.

The new limited edition model comes with a range of enhanced interior and exterior features valued at $2500. New Interior appointments include a Leather Wrapped Steering wheel and Gear Shifter. Unique exterior features include Exclusive Luna Grey Paint, Chrome Engine Grille and Limited Edition Branding including the unique Vehicle Number. To add even further appeal, buyers will also receive a Limited Edition Mercedes Gift Pack and a Certificate of Authenticity.

The Mercedes Benz Vito Van is available in a long list of configurations allowing customers to choose from 3 body lengths, 2 roof heights and a total of 4 diesel engines, producing up to 150kw.

It is this extensive range that gives the Vito its greatest appeal, allowing each model to be tailored to individual customer’s needs.

The Limited Edition Vito will be based on the Vito 115CDI Compact Crew Cab and is available from your Local Mercedes-Benz dealer priced at $55,490*

*Price Excludes Dealer Delivery and On Road Costs.

It’s a bloody van! Why does it need a Leather Wrapped Steering wheel and Gear Shifter? Just because it competed in Targa, doesn’t mean all of a sudden buyers are looking at a Vito rather than a proper sports car. I mean, how many florists are going to customise their van and check it’s Certificate of Authenticity?

I would much rather hold a leather wrapped steering wheel than a plastic one regardless of what it is attached to. :-)

Point of the exercise is to highlite the fact that you can buy a van or its people mover variant that has a five star crash rating, unlike many vans where if you hit something front on at any speed you’re dead. Many tradies should take note as they are at risk road users due to the amount of time they spend on the road to and from work.

  • WHY>?

    VERY SILLY MONEY

What is the difference between this and the very silly money Toyota ask for a Tarago?! :-)

This van handles better than a Camry coz it’s a Merc ~

Is this perhaps a response to the iload stealing van sales??
What would be interesting to see is if, and how much Hiace and Vito sales have slumped due to iload.

Im seeing iloads everywhere, and even in some of the major fleets.

If this thing is worth 60K, its not hard to see why the iload may be killing it
