2011 BMW M5 prototype shows off its brake package

The BMW M5 prototype has been spotted as it is pushed to its limits on the Nürburgring yet again as the brand continues to sharpen the performance of its iconic Grand Tourer.

Last time we caught a glimpse of the new BMW M5 it was caught on film smoking its rear tyres around the circuit; this time around the prototype has showed off its enormous brake package.

The huge callipers and cross drilled rotors are set behind matte black BBS wheels borrowed from the BMW X6 M, creating a very stealth yet aggressive look for the new BMW M5.

This is not the only piece of equipment borrowed from the X6 M, with a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine all but confirmed for the production model.
