Photo Update: Thanks to Australian Ford Forums member “sfr rob”
2:30pm Update: Pricing has just come through, Cobra sedan will retail for $65,110, and the ute for $61,200, features include leather everything, the sedans receive Rspec suspension, upgraded Brembos on the sedan are optional.
The Cobra will ride on GT-P rims with white inserts, machined face. Power delivery is reported at 302kw @ 6000rpm & 540nm @ 4750rpm
Engine changes are new inlet camshaft profile, new exhaust camshaft profile, new valves and valve springs, compression lifted from 10.5 to 10.8 still using 95ron fuel, heavily revised engine calibration…
1:30pm Update: Little more on the engine, it will make torque at higher revs, compression has risen and cylinder heads have been modified. Ford Dealers are already taking orders, first batch will land in November with the rest in Jan 2008.

A few weeks ago we discussed rumours that Ford was planning a limited edition ‘Cobra GT Falcon’ to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Allan Moffat and Colin Bond’s historic 1977 form-finish at Bathurst.
Sources inside Ford have today confirmed the rumours. From what we have been told, there will be 400 sedans and 100 utes. They will be powered by a 302kW BOSS V8 developing 540Nm. 0-100km/h times and any further enhancements over the standard GT is currently unknown.
Of course all 500 will only be available in white with blue stripes and cobra badges on the side (picture above is supposedly the Cobra).

But, is it just me or does this seem like a weak attempt, kind of like the 40th Anniversary GT-R Spec? Seriously, an extra 10kws? Jeez, you get that from an new exhaust and air filter change!
Ask a young guy, under 30 or so, why he likes STIs, Skylines, supras, etc and the answer you will usually get is because these cars are “exhilarating” and look awesome. Don’t get me wrong, I am a Ford and V8 fan, but jump in a REX or a STI, dial up 6000 revs and pop the clutch. The sheer propulsion is hilarious. The bloody entire dash board practically comes off! This is what our Fords need. Sheer muscle! not an extra 10kw.
I want to feel the power and the hairs on my neck when a replica/Genuine XR/XT/XW/XY/XA thunders past. Christ I love the sounds of those things either at Idle or cruise or powering up the road.

Hey Ho down I hear what your saying but the 302 kws is a marketing thing with Ford,to build an engine to exactly 302 would be near impossible. I imagine if you engine dynoed it the result would be higher.
Our old BA GT had around 330 kws from mods…..but of course all done after it ran out of warrenty….hehehe
exhuast,cold air intake,under drive pulleys, colder thermostat,and a computer mod .
The difference the exhaust makes is huge…….talk about quiet when you take it off and put the stock one back on!
Watto Cobra……I cant tell him your envious……he already has a big head from getting it…….bagging my BM against it AS USUAL!!!!!!!!! The funny thing was when his bog stock BA GT was new my 9 year old 3.2 litre inline little six was just as fast. Guess thats why he had to add his mods,couldn’t let a girls car beat it!hahaha

It’s true, I love a well boosted Supra. Heavy for a coupe, but having driven a modified series 2 MKIV with 390KW at the rears – sure was exhilirating. And expensive :)

Yeah, understand the marketing side of 302 but for me, it just does not seem that relevant without more. It just seems like “yeah yeah, great, some numbers match up: but does it blow the doors off a R32 and look like The Money Shot?”

Hey Ho Down……..how did it drive? Fine a little louder fuel economy crap 17 litres per 100 ks!!!!!Thats around our suburb.Open road around 12 litres per 100. It also has lowered springs so sits similar to the R-SPEC.
So looks like I still cant drive over speed humps at the kids school! And have to watch the front spoiler when parking ,use to that now with all our cars! Yep he did put it down the quarter several times….traction was an issue he wishes he had bought some drag TAs for it and he would have got in the 12s I think best time was a 13.1 ! He has crap reaction time though!
Not sure never sat next to an R32 AT THE LIGHTS! Whats their times. Stock the M3 book times are 0-100 in 5.5 sec same as the stock BAGT { it takes longer to launch though}…….I would have a go against the R32 ……after all not everyone can drive either. I have nailed a GTS Monaro in my M3 hahahaha the last of the monaros not the early ones!

I had a XE Fairmont Ghia for about 3 months {too old for me I was only about 20 at the time} near new was manual ,we threw some B45 Simmons wheel on it 10s and 8s. Sold it for a Brock Commodore I think………too many cars when I was young to remember what one! Plus its 20 years ago now Gee didn’t we all spend a lot of waisted money on cars when we were young!

Dealers in Melb on weekend were offering sale via tender system or 88k for auto with mandatory sat nav.
Sorry Becksta…….all the dealers put the price up and most averaging around $85,000 over a week ago!
Some people that paid deposits even missed out cause dealers got offered more for them,that sucked shouldn’t be allowed .I thought if a deposit is paid then that a legal contract!

The same thing happened with the BA when we got it! We should have taken it as an omen then. Ours had been ordered in November and wasn’t delivered till June 2003.
At one point they ran out of orange cotton for the seats??
When we finally took hold of it the night we picked up our daughter from creche she vomited in the back seat of it?? Spooky,all down hill after that! This car is way better no oil usage no rattles everything opens and shuts ,doors are quieter when you shut them, engine is loosing up now and in another 5000 ks will be real good! Only complaint is a slight clutch shudder from new but it was listed down the day it left the dealership! Much better finished off all over! I am sure your wait will be worth it!
that’s it i’m sure once we get we’ll feel better it’s just been one thing after another but were not suprised the last year has been like that for everything we’ve done building our house and our wedding included. T

Sorry love my kids , had the first too young but is nice to say I have a 21 nearly 22 years old at my age! He was born on my birthday and the next one the day after the 22nd and my beautiful daughter {who should be a model one day cause I started and never finished} on the 31.12.1999.
