2008 Audi S5/A5
It has been a big start to the month for Audi Australia with the company launching not only the most expensive car in its history (R8), but the all new sporty S5 Coupe as well.
In a rather interesting move by the German manufacturer, the first model to arrive from the new A5 lineup is the top-of-the-range S5 V8 Coupe.
“Audi is a brand on the move in Australia and this new model will help propel us towards yet another period of record sales growth.” Audi Australia’s Managing Director, Mr Joerg Hofmann, said
The sporty S5 is powered by a 4.2-litre V8 quattro with 260kW and 440Nm. It will feature Audi's famous quattro permanent four-wheel drive, dynamically-tuned S sports suspension and high-performance brakes.
Initially it will only be available with a six speed manual transmission (for the true enthusiasts), a tiptronic version will follow in May next year.
The coupe measure 4.63 metres in length, allowing for four comfortable seats and 455 litres of load volume.
“This new Coupe is a stunning vehicle and we believe it is the best in its class. With competitive pricing, advanced engine technology and elegant design, the A5 and S5 models will surely turn the heads of the luxury car-buying public,” Mr Hofmann, said
The A5 range consists of four engine choices, starting from a 1.8-litre turbo FSI for those interested mostly in style, diesel power is handled by a 3.0-litre TDI, while a 3.2-litre FSI sits below the mentioned V8.
There is a healthy list of standard features for the S5:
- 18-inch wheels
- electrically adjustable S5 sports seats,
- Audi adaptive light, in conjunction with xenon plus headlights and daytime running lights in the form of an LED light strip,
- Bluetooth telephone preparation,
- DVD-based Navigation System
- three-zone automatic air conditioning.
