If you’re an Aston Martin aficionado living anywhere between Alabama and Alaska, I’ve got good news.
If you like the idea of a 6.0-litre V12 under the bonnet of your Vantage, then the waiting is almost over.
From later this year the blisteringly quick V12 Vantage will be available to buyers throughout North and South America, for the first time since the car’s launch in 2009 at Aston Martin’s development centre at the famed Nurburgring in Germany.
Based on the super agile V8 Vantage, the V12 version offers faster acceleration and a higher top speed than its V8 sibling. Try 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds and onto a missile like 190 mph (305km/h).
Aston Martin has responded to unprecedented demand across the Americas and has engineered the car accordingly, to meet the stringent requirements of what remains the company’s single largest market.
This was not an easy task, as the team was given strict instructions that the car’s overall design features were not to be altered in any way.
The press release also says, “The V12 Vantage is as at home on the track as it is on the road…” and they’re absolutely spot on. CarAdvice has just completed Australia’s first and only track test of the V12 Vantage including a five-minute video of the event, which will posted on the site later this week.
None of the V8 Vantage’s outstanding chassis balance or race car like agility has been lost with the addition of the 380kW (510 bhp) V12 under the bonnet. This is a wickedly quick car with oodles of torque in all six gear ratios, making it an incredibly flexible supercar and probably the only car in its class that could be considered as a daily driver.
Buyers will also be able to order the more exclusive and limited Carbon Black Special Edition from launch. The Carbon Black metallic paint alone is the product of 50 man-hours due to it being applied by hand.
As a US buyer, you can order your V12 Vantage now with the first deliveries expected in fourth quarter this year with prices likely to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
