You are wondering how all that extra kit is worth $6,000?
Here are some guesses:
* 18-inch sports alloy wheels - $1,500
* a one-piece hard tonneau cover with integrated power bulge and rear spoiler $1,000
* Momo steering wheel $750
* prestige audio system with six-disc in-dash CD player $750
* an iPod®/MP3 audio player input connection $250
* unique “by Craig Lowndes” decals $1,000
Atdealer prices all that kit would easily add up to $6,000. At real world prices, it is probably closer to $3,000. So for $1,000, I reckon it is a pretty good deal.
All they are trying to do is keep sales up and get the inventory down on the run up to the Orion. Should work too.
Can’t wait to see the Orion ute.

I agree it’s a good way to shift excess stock before a new model comes out.
However; if a car is going to be a limited edition it should have something more to distinguish it from the rest apart from having a signature on it or a numbered badge on the glove box.
I believe that a Limited Edition Car should be available in a one-off custom mix colour or have a special paintjob that’s unique to that particular car. For example the HSV SV99 was the only car to come in Hackett Gold and the GTS-R was the only came in Yellah Terrah.
Which is why if Ford wants to make this a limited edition they shouldn’t come in the same colours as a normal ute. Or have extra features that are available as options on normal utes. Extras such as a supercharger or adjustable air suspension would have been better - more exclusive.
Why not try the “Harlequin” paint that changes colour - just like Craig did?

I agree that the limited edition ute should have a one off colour, maybe an orange to match the 888 Falcon V8 Supercar

Any one remember the Dick Jonson Grand Prix Turbo XE Falcon?
Any way, why does this ute not got a roll bar, or somthing that stands out a bit more than a Lowndes singned sticker on the side?
The Grand Prix Turbo had wide fender flars, a low spoiler, Smowflake mags (also used on Fairmont Ghia & ‘87 ZL Fairlane), Twincarbs, Garret or HKS turbo & Dick Jonson stickers on the front mudgurds.

I like the idea of what they’ve done for a “last effort” before the Orion’s release. But, I too think they could’ve done more with the Ute and the Sedan. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great thing what Ford have done, but some engine changes would have been a great sell out. It would’ve been great for the BF model to have one last thing to shove it right up Holden before handing itself over to the Orion.
Thats just my opinion.

I still think the Lowndes ute will sell, simply because of numbers.
It falls into a lot more peoples price range, and there will only be 100 Cobra utes.

Hee hee, Bathurst should sell some utes (Lowndes & Cobra, although I’m sure all the Cobra utes are already spoken for).
That was AWESOME. Before the rain I was getting excited about possibly Ford filling top 6 spots.

HA,HA. I still remember when some one made fun of Ford at the seccond round of this year, when Holden had a 1-2-3, but Ford’s 1-2-3 at Bathurst was better!!
I’m sick of using “Me.” with a pansy full stop at the end, so I changed it to “GOING FORD IS THE GOING THING” Ford’s slowgan from the ’70s.

Toss (I mean Toddler) suggested Lowndes was LUCKY to win. Well, Bathurst is about 50% luck but if you don’t have the other 50% (speed, preparation, treamwork, good drivers, a great car) luck doesn’t help. I thought he was the only one NOT ARROGANT in the Wankingshaw team. I’ve changed my mind. BTW only 6 Commy’s managed to finish out of the whole field.
Toss refers to Lowndes almost getting taken out by Winterbottom than someone else after that. He seems to forget that his brother was the first one to almost take Lowndes out.
Then he goes on to say Holden will come back at Lowndes/Whincup at Indy. Is he advertising their plans to cheat like end of last year IN ADVANCE? (His wording pits all Holden teams against 888) Hmmmmmm
Best response I’ve heard was on the Ford Australia Forum.
I forget his name but he said “seems like Holden wasn’t happy chucking wheels at Lowndes to try and stop him winning Bathurst, now they’re throwing whole cars at him.”
I bet you get a kick out of that KFC.

Lowndes nearly hit 2 Holdenwoos, one on the first lap and later on at the chase (pRick “arse rape’n” Kelly)

i wonder if tander now reckons winning the race is just fluff now too.
dont forget indy ruined lowndes last year when officials acted too quickly to penalise him before he got a chance to re-adress after that incident with ingall
(Report)
October 16th, 2007 at 9:59 pm
Yeah “fluff”. Biggest load of crap ever. Who doesn’t want pole? Especially at Bathurst.
Andrew M, I tink Ford got penalised for winning Bathurst last year. Do you remember at Indy, Toss and Wingnut (Tander) battling for first with pRick at least 5 secs behind?
Toss & Wingnut pit a few laps different to pRick and all of a sudden he’s in front? Bullshit. Wingnut had the speed to beat Toss.
Don’t forget to point out to everyone you know, pRick won the championship by cheating AND he only won one stinking little race (with Wingnut & Toss’ help), couldn’t even win a bloody round. People (Holden) bagged the crap out of Ingall but at least Ingall won a round (Oran Park). He couldn’t win the championship with Holdenwoo.
