Ford is so far behind the times. I have the option to buy either cars. I go by the car not the badge, i am not a Ford or Holden man or either a young kid. But I have to say taking out the lastest ford Super P UTE for 3 hours., I wasnt impressed. Engine good, the rest cheap, Torno wobbles, cheap brackets, plastic is cheap looking, music centre cheap, steering wheel cheap,,i just found all was put together cheaply. So i cannot wait to see this New Holdon Ute as its look so far ahead of the Ford.Maybe i am turing to become a Holden man

As much as i would hate to admit it, this is a nice ute. I dont no way Ford/FPV and Holden?HSV are trying to go for that "european look". We are in AUSTRALIA. I would rather see the 2010/2011 Falcon look more like a XA/B/C falcon with a new age modern touch, thats when HSV and FPV should bring back there GTS-R Monaro and Phase V GT-HO. And I think all aussie muscle heads want that to and the only reason the car makers are going this way is because it is politicaly correct and 2 many old farts are in the business!!! Ford/FPV, for once in your life listern to a die hard Ford fan, give the loyal ford fans what they want.

oh no for holden/pontiac that is something people will throw at them. yes but funny how ironic it was. we build exciting cars yet you will fall asleep at the wheel. i can sence a slogan change if that gets out.

Check this out, just found the article on Car Point

Pontiac's first road-registered G8 to be totalled has taken its driver on a wild ride

Pontiac has just lost its first G8 in action.

According to a report in the Aspen Daily News, a G8 driven by an Australian engineer took a tumble over a 45 degree embankment before hitting a boulder and flipping.

The G8 -- basically the Holden Commodore in LHD form and with Pontiac styling cues will go on sale early in the new year.

This particular car was being driven in convoy along Colorado's Highway 82 as part of an engineering evaluation when the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

Rolf Glenk, a 41-year old engineer employed by GM, walked away from the accident with minor injuries, which were treated at the Aspen Valley Hospital.

The Colorado State Police has issued a citation for careless driving following Glenk's admission that he fell asleep at the wheel.

Pontiac has marketed cars using the slogan "We build excitement" and it's hard to think of a more exciting experience than riding a G8 down a 45 degree slope at open road speeds, headed for a boulder. Still, not something recommended...

right on rocket3,
im a ford fan but to be fair to holden i dont think it is the export thing either but maybe aswell as the totally new design.
yep AU was delayed till the start of the next year because it was a totally new thing.
but holden still does seem to delay theirs a little bit longer. the VE will blow out its first candle before the ute comes. and then the VU ute came in at the end of 2000 i think which was 3 years after the sedan variant (VS) ended.
but if you go back a bit further in history the XF falcon ute ran till 1993. yep they leap frogged the EA

Hey Andrew I agree ,but as I have mentioned in my post a couple of days ago here the UTEs of today hardly have the reputation of those 20 years ago.The appeal has been changed by marketing companies.Morphing a functional UTE from years back to the VE of today was good to see though.

Anyone who thinks a modern ute loses traction because it is light should go drive one over the weigh bridge!
The BA Ute with the Style Side Tray is heavier than the sedan and the Holden is about line ball with equivalent VY/VZ as it doesn't have the Fords Half Chassis out back for the Tray.

They lose traction because they are suspended on 'Load Carrying' springs!

The Big T,
Ford actually normally releases its utes a little later as well if there is a big change. When they changed to the AU there was almost an eight month delay to the Ute version due to the complexity of the new one tonne chassis design. as Ford have been refining this for so long now it will basically bolt straight under the new ute with very minor changes (there will be some). Not trying to help out holden here but manufacturers put the most money into the highest volume sellers first then the derivitives.

Plus you need something for each motor show dontcha.

A possible reason why Ford releases the ute at the same time as the sedan ould be because unlike Holden; Ford don't have as great an export program. Therefore; they're main focus is the local market.

The reason the ute was delayed was because Holden export and sell the Commodore and Statesman to the US and Middle East in such great numbers that it made sense to promote the Statesman ahead of the Ute. - The Statesman just won Middle East COTY again.

The ute is to be released next as there are plans to export it to the USA as a Pick-Up and maybe even the UK.
Finally will be the Wagon [about the same time as the series 2] as it's unlikely to be exported due to the fact that there are no viable overseas markets.

However; if or when Ford is allowed to export the Falcon [which it should be it's as good a car as its UK and USA equivalents] expect the launches of the various models to be delayed slightly as well.

missile i saw the ute ad. they were flogging it during the footy GF.
looks like they are trying to sell it by a loyalty thing.
i reckon they could have had a better ad although the evolving computer stuff was pretty well done

Holdrolet are good at subliminal bullsh!t on the media about saying they are the only Australian car. Their closest GM relatives, (Like Chevrolet) did that same subliminal thing Back in 1959, just see this clasic ad. GM are good at being subliminal see...
www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/classic_car_commercials_chevrolet_07.htm

This is a classic example.
