Which political party will bring in the LEMON LAW. When the car company can not fix the same problem 3 times you get a new car!! They will get my vote.

We are going through this with Hyundai too after purchasing a brand new santa fe Elite lemon in August 2009. Within 2500kms we brokedown and limped into a ford/hyundai dealership in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. Was told it was a failed sensor and after 5 days without the car it was replaced. 2nd breakdown happens at 5000kms and the radiator was fixed (without us being told, we later found out by the state service manager) and a new transmission had been ordered because it was definitely going to need replacing. Nice! I was sent home with a faulty car after the computer was reset. Did I tell you I was heavily pregnant at the time and had a 2 year old too?? 3rd breakdown with the same issue and the whole transmission was replaced as coolant had leaked from the faulty radiator into the transmission. We were told by Hyundai it was unlikely we could get a loan car while it would take 3-4 months for our transmission to arrive and be fitted. After a long fight and many tears we got a loan car. 2000kms later another breakdown. Hose leading from the turbo has come apart from the clamp. an hour on the side of the road while the RAA came to fix it. 9 days later and I am stranded again at the side of the car with the same hose popping off. Another hour by the side of the road. Today, 9 days later the car breaks down for the 6th time. What a lemon!! We arent getting anywhere with the National service manager from Hyundai. Problem for them is that I have a huge group of friends who will never buy a hyundai now and have told all their friends too. My next step is to go to Today Tonight.

Moral: Never buy a piece of crap like a Hyundai ever again!

I wonder if a new car which was purchased on 28 Feb 2009 would fall under the LEMON Laws.

KIA Sorento Diesel - YOM Nov 08
Purchased 28 Feb 2009

June 2009 9000kms
- major engine failure. conrod went through the block, full engine replaced.

Regular issues - with Power steering.

August 2009
- injector rail/ mount came off

November 09. 18000kms
Major engine failure car off road for over 6 weeks suspect oil pump this time.

NOT TO worry though this car has a 5 year warranty so KIA will continue to repair each time it breaks down. I should be so greatful.

Each time this engine has failed we've been told this has never happened before.
IF it's a once off replace the bloody lump of SH*T.

Rather than treat it as though it's an everday occurance.
Not the first KIA I've owned (2nd), definately the LAST

It is quite hilarious to learn that the law makes are seeking advice from the car makers. Come on are we so stupid? It is like asking a serial killer if he wants to go to jail.

Whats the latest with this law?

I am about to go to war with FOMOCO for only minor issues, but issues nonetheless which they have NOT fixed to my satisfaction.

Like all things, if you make a good product you have nothing to fear, so all the Japanese [except Mitsu.] will continue to sleep well at night...

Cheers

We also have a HUGE lemon in a Winnebago Bundaleer
Bought new in 2004 ,it has had continual major problems
Cracked sidewalls -4 times W/bago tried to fix it and gave up
Huge electrical problems from day one -took 18 months to fix that
Gearbox and Cummins engine problems
It just continues on -it would have cost W/bago well over $100k for repairs so far and we have been without the use of the M/H for many months It is so unreliable that we expect a major breakdown at each trip
It is not reliable and Winnebago or their dealers DONT CARE
I wish HMB good luck with their Longreach

We have a large lemon:
Winnebago LONGREACH.
It has been problems ongoing since we got it in July 2008.
We are living in the shop now! In Melbourne.
Getting on with the workers and managers, first-name basis.
They have a nice dog...old.
WInnebago: should be YELLOW.

Paul...

I agree the promotion didn't work as well as expected.
Epica is just not selling regardless.
I'm hanging out to see the new mondeo, not long now...
