2011 Hyundai Accent spy photos

By Matt Brogan |

Pictures this morning from auto.ifeng.com show the upcoming 2011 Hyundai Accent testing in California, USA.

The next-generation Hyundai Accent, which is sold as the Hyundai Verna in some markets (note the badge on the boot lid), sees the small sedan take on a mini-Hyundai i45 look with a more rounded, arcing greenhouse and prominent chrome-finished grille flanked by larger headlamps and squared-off fog lamps.

The car’s sheetmetal is also more deeply sculpted, with lines similar to those seen on the new Hyundai ix35.

At this point, little more is known about the next-generation Hyundai Accent, though we can expect a mix of petrol and diesel powerplants. A Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) hybrid variant, similar to the Kia Forte LP1 Hybrid (Kia Cerato LPI Hybrid in some markets), is also a strong possibility.

So where does this fit in relative to the i30 and elantra? I thought Hyundai Aus ditched the Accent for the i30?

    • jinsei

      smokin’r32,

the Accent is a sub-compact and so is smaller than the i30 or Elantra. It sits along with the Getz and the upcoming i20.

im very confused to where it will sit…in terms of family design…
        i10 > i20 > i30
        accent/verna > i45
        ix35 > …

i wonder what they’ll call it if it comes to oz, i40…i35…?

Cover the grille with your fingers. Looks a lot like a Peugeot 307/308. Or is that just me?

    • Mr Pee Pee

I covered the grille with my fingers, but then I couldn’t see anything and got smudges on my monitor.

      • Mal

Is your monitor the size of a postage stamp?

          Stunning car!

Unfortunately it takes some people to go on with severely nothing to comment like yours! Looks nothing close to a Peugeot! It has wheels (is that not a copy of other cars)…same goes for windows or doors, lights like a Subaru, lower air intake like a Fiesta, lower driving lights like a ix35. Get real!

    • GoHyundai

      its just you

    • sammo

      How immature of you all!

Yes i can see a hint of Pug styling in the sweeping, cat-like headlight design.
I love peugeots so i dont consider this to be a bad thing at all! :P

    • GoHyundai

so the headlights of the new nissan 370z looks like the new toyota prius???
and the headlights of the new lexus…
and you look like your mum and
      and
      the list goes on

  • GoHyundai

i’m just curious…with the hyundai family thing…i see three family grill type things…
    family 1…i10…i20…i30…
    family 2…this new accent/verna…and the i45…the fluidic thing…
    family 3…the hexagonal grill thing…ix35…

    hmmm…

    • http://SSANGYONG c3vzn

U can now add the elantra to the hexagonal grill list

  • Spenco

Maybe an i20/i30 sedan?? Looks nice, the fluid sculpture styling is workin for them. Unfortunatly we’ll never see it in OZ…

  • Baddass

I believe in a brand having a design language, but this is just a smaller i45 from the front.

  • Matt

Back looks a little Honda-ish, but overall it’s lovely. If they could make this same design into a hatch under the i30 umbrella, then maybe Hyundai’s range would be a little easier to follow.

      use your Centrelink-card more wisely

  • Prius Pensioner

The front is reminiscent of the new Opel Astra (esp. the headlights). The back looks similar to the Honda Fit Aria of previous years.

      use your health-care-card more wisely

Now that was uncalled for. I found that allusion to my age to be rude to say the least.

  • RD

Really nice looking car, fingers crossed we’ll see it here in some form.
