Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the diesel variant of its stunning C-Class range, the C 320 CDI, will make its way into Australian showrooms by next month.

The C 320 CDI adds the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 to the list of impressive engine options available for customers of the all-new C-Class.

Its arrival will make it the fourth engine offered in the C-Class range joining the C 200 Kompressor, C 220 CDI four-cylinder turbo-diesel and C 280 V6 petrol.

When it arrives, the C 320 CDI will take pride of place as the range leader for the all-new C-Class with prices starting from $92,800.

Boasting the same impressive list of standard safety, luxury and driving equipment found in the C 280 petrol V6, but gains three-zone climate control in addition to the brilliant 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel power unit.

The 3.0-litre engine produces a maximum power level of 165 kW and a peak torque of 510 Newton metres, which is available between a very low 1600 and 2800 rpm. This is mated to Mercedes-Benz’s smooth 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel consumption stands at an impressive 7.4-litres per 100km and also boasts swift performance, with the C 320 CDI able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.7 – baring in mind these figures relate to a luxury family saloon which tips the scales at 2,185kg.

In addition to the new engine, the C 320 CDI comes standard with Mercedes-Benz’s hallmark range of safety features as standard. These include no less than eight airbags, front an rear passenger belt tensioners and belt force limiters, NECK-PRO head restraints, Brake Assist and ESP just to name a few.
