2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS AMG spy photos

By Matt Brogan |

There’s not too many cars that still look fresh after five years of production, but the Mercedes-Benz CLS is one of them. No Botox needed here.

Mercedes-Benz is working on a new CLS, as these spy photos show, but rather than a quick remodel, most of the changes are technical.

The existing CLS is based on the old E-Class, but with a new E-Class now available, the changes to the CLS will reflect those found in the new platform.

Its believed the new Mercedes-Benz CLS AMG will be powered by the new 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8. Developing between 405 and 426kW, the new engine is bound to make Mercedes-Benz’s rivals in Ingolstadt and Munich sit up and take notice.

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS AMG will likely be released later this year as a 2011 model year. Pricing and full specification details will no doubt be released closer to the launch.

Its true that the Exterior doesn’t need botox, but I do believe the interior needs a bit more work to make it up to date, as most of the buttons and switches and dials was a carry over form the last gen E-class. With the new E already released for some time, it does show the CLS’s age. i.e the Command system is still the last generations. The same goes with SLK and SL, but they are a bit better off because they dont have a twin saloon brother to show its age.
