Subaru sales strong in March, up 7.7% on 2009 figures

As VFACTS sales figures continue to roll in, Subaru has announced its March figures show 3679 vehicles were sold for the month, 7.7 per cent better than the same time last year.


Leading the sales charge was Subaru's Forester SUV with March sales of 1382 units, a 4.5 per cent improvement over March 2009 figures. The result sees Forester retain its position as the best-selling compact SUV for both the month of March, and year-to-date (YTD).

Outback sales were also strong with 531 units sold during March, an impressive 73.5 per cent rise on last year's numbers and a 109.4 per cent YTD improvement.

Combined, Outback and Forester sales figures gave Subaru a 19.8 per cent share of the compact SUV segment for the month of March.

The new Subaru Liberty range, including the new Subaru Exiga people mover models, sold 576 units to be up 54.1 per cent YTD, while Impreza sales of 1065 and Tribeca sales of 125 round out the month.

Overall, Subaru sales are up 7.7 per cent over this time last year and 10.0 per cent YTD.
