Awesome, Awesome, awesome. Test drove a GT Sport diesel and was blown away (literally). Had to have it. Not a perfect car but brilliant, cannot wait for the delivery. Performance, economy and did I mention performance, and from a oiler.

All valid points, but tell me a car you can trash the be-jesus out of and return 6L/100 average day in and out? Or have XR6/SV6 straight line traffic light performance, in manual form, and get 850 plus kms out of a 55L tank?

Hard to get all these aspects in one car, and coming from a BA GT, I find this every bit as fun to drive. You’d need a serious car to catch one of these up a windy hilly road, my favourite place to take my “weezy diesel”.

Dynoed at 113kw and 357nm at the wheels dead stock, Mercury motorsport, Brisbane.

Highly recommended!

The price for this GT is quite high.

It can be compared with a Mazda 6, but I think Mazda is more sportive car.

i own a rather warm 98 wrx… my best mate has a collection of extremely worked gtr skylines… he has just taken the diesel golf for a spin and WILL purchase it whilst awaiting delivery of the r35 gtr… as my rex continues to get warmer, so too does my heart towards the golf

I’ve Just ordered the 122bhp 1.4 TSi 3 door gt sport here in ireland in red. Have to wait 10 weeks for it. The 122bhp is some quick car off the mark!

After selling my Subaru WRX I took the 2 litre TDI GT for a spin and OMFG!!!! That thing is an absolute weapon. I cann’t believe I am saying this but I seriously think that the 2.0 diesel will be giving the odd WRX owner a bit of a fright at the lights, it is very very quick and the styling and interior finishes are top notch – compared to my MY04 CS7 rex that is….

funny, the car show on channel nine had the car dynoed at 140kw and peaking at 150. they got a second GT to make sure the first wasnt a demon child and the same results. shhh dont tell anyone tho no one will buy the gti

I was very excited when I saw the picture of the 2-door GT, but then, in disappointed, noticed the German number plates.

When, oh when, will VW pull its finger out and give us more 2-door Golfs (besides the GTI & RS32)???

OK vehcile and technology, but WAY to much coin for a South African built hatch!
