Fiat 500 celebrates 500,000 sales in 21 months

The 500,000th example of Fiat's popular 500 model, a Funk White 1.2 with Start&Stop, rolled off the production line yesterday at Fiat's Tychy plant in Poland.


The milestone, achieved in just 21 months, makes the 500 one of Fiat's most successful cars of all time, and with its funky, retro styling and long list of international awards, it's not hard to see why to little Italian is so popular.

The car will join models on sale in 83 different countries across the globe.  The top of the range Lounge and Sport versions making up more than 80 per cent of all Fiat 500's sold.

Among its accolades, the Fiat 500 received the prestigious EuroNCAP five-star safety rating. It also boasts a dedicated internet site with a community of over 120,000 users from 206 different countries.

The Fiat 500 was joined earlier this year by a convertible model, the Fiat 500C, the new model paying homage to the original 1957 soft-top.
