bugatti losses, but bugatti has the most performance. it is well engineered and it is better. everybody wants to be a winner thats, why america car company build someting that is fast like ssc, but is it safety? i dont think so. they only want to win and they dnt want SAFETY that kind of thing I THINK what if the engineers of bugatti tune up the beautiful car what if they duplicate the engine? or intact some kind of another invention of engine to make it faster? maybe….. hope that bugatti will be in the most high SSC aero only go fast but without technology

Veyron is the mother of all cars as gels together. The Shelby is add ons everywhere and opposite as gels wrong!

The veyron is better than the SSC because americans just want to be better than everyone they probably have no safety about the car and it would probably fall apart in 2 years

Is the Shelby permanent all-wheel drive like the Veyron? I would have thought an all wheel drive system would have to out handle a rear wheel only?

Oh and from what I can find out the Veyron does 0-62 mph in 2.5 sec the Shelby 0-60 mph in 2.78 sec so I guess in the end their close by any means.

Why did Shelby wait till someone else had the fastest production car in the world before they decided to beat it though ?

The original GT40 was developed by Ford of Europe, with an American engine granted. But it was the Euros who made it handle and stop.

The Veyron actually handles extremely well, Tiff Needell on Fifth Gear took the Bugatti Veyron out onto a track for the first time on television and it handled amazingly for a car of that weight and power(2 Ton)

I’m happy for SSC and that the title is back here since the GT40 in the 60s? Everyone questioning the handling is seriously misinformed, their prototypes took the Road & Track slalom record previously held by the Enzo almost two years ago. I’m waiting for them to be tested by all the magazines before I decide to make my opinion seem factual, I suggest you all do the same. Opinions on looks are understandable but statements beginning with “i doubt, or i think” usually mean “i don’t know the facts and am too lazy to figure out the truth”.

I for one am a fan of the veyron and the ssc because they both push engineering limits when it comes to cars. They are two completely different cars the veryon a 250 mph “touring” type car and the ssc a 250mph sports car.

Let me ask another question? How good does the Veyron handle? Everyone is questioning the SSC’s handling and they have proof they can best even Ferrari. What has Bugatt done besides just go fast?

I wonder if the yanks will race this car at Le Mans or it can be driven on the road as a day to day car. It seems very low when compared to the Veyron. But then the Veyron is more than just a projectile. It’s and engineering marvel of design whose limitations would have been part of the original design brief.
Does anyone know what sort of fuel was used.

Agree with Bavarian Missile fully. The yanks are all over the place with inconsistent designs that are tad angular and bizarre. They have the weirdest tastes when it comes to the look of a car.

Yeah I agree, good luck keeping that U.S trash going with that kind of power… if their V8s are anything to go by I would be worried! Not to mention, the Veyron is cool because it has so many cool features… like 10 radiators and I think it was 4 turbos.

the buggati veyron may be fast in a straight line but vw tested at the ring for 2 years but no lap time was released. i think that was because it wasn’t that fast at all.

Yeah Americans like to think they can build high parformance V8 production cars to rival those from Europe. Going fast [in a straight line] is one thing yet a number of [iconic] sports cars from the USA don’t have the brakes or handling to match when it comes to stopping or negotiating a series of corners
Remember “Power is nothing without Control” .. and their build quality is nowhere near the Euros.

However; Koenigsegg is working on a new supercar to regain their record.

At speeds achieved by these saught of cars it would seem important that the engineering must be top-of-the-game and the cars braking and road holding features have to all be the best. Unless the Americans have had a sudden culture change shock this car of theres surely cannot be as good the european monster, despite the higher top speed.
