Skoda Kodiaq L&K: Geneva-bound range-topper not for Oz
Named after Skoda's founders, not for Australia
Skoda has turned to its founders for inspiration on a new luxury-focused 'L&K' package for the Kodiaq.
Set for a Geneva motor show debut, the L&K derives its name from brand founders Laurin and Klement.
Power will come from a range of engines, starting with a 1.5-litre petrol making 110kW. The 2.0-litre petrol currently offered in the Kodiaq has been boosted to 140kW (up from 132kW), and will be mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
On the diesel front, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder making 110kW of power debuts below the range-topping 140kW TDI in the range.
Both petrol and diesel range-toppers come with all-wheel drive as standard, while lesser variants are front-wheel drive.
Inside, the more luxurious L&K trim grade brings a leather-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel and a power-adjustable driver’s seat, along with little touches like ‘Laurin & Klement’ badging on the seats and instrument panel.
Along with the interior touches, you’ll be able to tell range-topping Kodiaqs apart from their more mundane brethren by their 19-inch alloy wheels and unique grille. There are unique badges on the wheel-arches, and full LED headlights are standard.
Australia
Skoda Australia communications boss, Paul Pottinger, has confirmed there are no plans to bring L&K cars to Australia. He also said the more powerful 140kW petrol engine would remain beyond our reach for now.
