Peugeot 3008 to arrive in Australia from June

The new Peugeot 3008 is set to arrive in Australia from June offering what Peugeot say is "a blend of motoring concepts in the one car".

The 3008 has already received a raft of awards in Europe and the UK with much acclaim centred around the car's versatility, modernity, practicality and driving pleasure.

A choice of powerplants includes both petrol (with the 1.6 litre engines developed in co-operation with the BMW Group) and diesel versions (1.6 and new 2.0 litre HDi fitted with a diesel particulate emission filter). Fuel consumption begins at just 4.9L/100km (130 g/km of CO2), though this figure was bettered at the recent Peugeot Eco Cup in France where the 3008 achieved an average consumption figure of 3.5L/100km.

Safety technologies include a rigid body structure, suspension and electronic aids (including ESC), traction control, head up display, distance alert, an electronic parking brake and hill start assist.

The 3008 combines a single-compartment body shape with a SUV-style split tailgate (which can hold 200kg), plunging side windows and an elevated driving. The windscreen is pushed well forward to optimise cabin space.

Inside the 3008 is spacious with well considered ergonomics and driving position. Its Multiflexinterior allows a versatile interior space thanks to its three-position floor and remote folding rear seats. With all seats folded, the 3008 offers a perfectly flat floor from the tailgate to the front seats. The cargo area of the 3008 also offers a floor with a three-way height adjustment and provides 512-litres of space with the sets up and parcel shelf in place.

Peugeot say they have focused a lot of attention on the 3008's road holding abilities, altering the suspension arrangement from the 308 (on which the 3008 is based) to suit the taller vehicle.

The Peugeot 3008 will also be the first vehicle in the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group to gain HYbrid4 technology from 2011.

Pricing and full specification details will be released closer to the launch.
