2019 Range Rover ‘Coupe’ spied

The Range Rover 'Coupe' has been hinted at and, with these photos, we can see definitively the British luxury car maker is indeed working on just such a model.

The prototype seen here is clearly based on the current Range Rover, but has a lower and heavily inclined roof line, shorter body, and reduced wheelbase.

Despite some tape hinting otherwise, this vehicle only has two lengthened passenger doors for ingress and egress.

Last year Gerry McGovern, Land Rover's head of design, told CarAdvice and other members of the Australian media the company was working on a three-door Range Rover model.

Unlike the original three-door Range Rover, which was utilitarian in design, the new three-door will be a coupe-style model targeting the very top end of the SUV market.

According to McGovern, the company sees the "natural progression for Range Rover to become more tailored, more bespoke, refined and luxurious".

McGovern went on to hint the car would be developed and built by Jaguar Land Rover's SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) arm, which specialises in limited-edition models, bespoke developments, and vehicle restorations.

Given its likely high price and limited availability, it seems a reasonable bet to assume the Range Rover 'Coupe' will be available exclusively with the company's supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine.
