Actually, the back window is not like a Tatraplan (or T600) but more like a 603 – the model produced from the mid 50′s. I have one of each so I do know what they look like.

Beetle was “inspired” by Tatra’s architecture – Tatra V570 and Tatra T97. The inspiration went so far, that they later had to acknowledge intelectual property theft and had to pay large sum of damages. If there wasn’t WW2, VW would never be as the initial law suits were stopped by Hitler’s invasion of Czechoslovakia (and take over of Tatra factory). VW and Porsche was in the 30′s as original as chinese cars are now.

Very nice, but all those pipes are too excesive, two large ovals would do. Those headlights are menacing and the interior materials look very upmarket indeed.

Its definately a provocative design, and just reading some of the comments it offers things that we all love & hate.

But personally, this design is growing on me. At first i hated it, but i keep looking at it and finding small design touches which i didn’t see at first. Just like the crease that runs down the centre of the roof and finishes as a tail light. Thats just genius!

I would say that was then also inspired by the Beetle’s rear window which was in production in 1939.
