2019 Porsche 911 spied with the top down

The next-generation 2019 Porsche 911 convertible has been spied testing with the top down in Europe.

We've seen the next-gen 911 in spy photos already, and the drop-top sticks with the same theme – slow, constant evolution. It's clear the car is a 911.

Like the coupe prototypes we've already seen, there are lashings of tape on the front bumper hiding the shape of the air intakes, while camouflage obscures the new model's headlamp graphics.

Along the side we can see impressively wide wheel arches, flush-fitting door handles, and angular wing mirrors.

There's more camouflage at the rear, but a distinctive rear hump and thin, full-width taillights are visible to the world.

As with the coupe, the convertible rides on a wider platform than the current car. It's expected all but the most hardcore GT3 and RS models will be powered by turbocharged, six-cylinder boxer engines.

While the new 911 is cautiously evolutionary on the outside, spy photos from last year show a more radical redesign of the interior, which makes use of modern display technology to cut down on button clutter.
