Volkswagen produces 6 million cars in 2017

Polo, Golf, Passat and Jetta lead the way

Volkswagen has broken its production record, building 6 million cars during 2017.

With more than 50 plants spread across 14 countries, and boasts a model range with more than 60 cars worldwide. If you're still not quite sure of the company's scale, more than 150 million cars wearing the VW badge have rolled off the production line since the original Beetle was created.

The Jetta, Golf, (China-only) Santana, Passat and Polo led the way, while demand for the Tiguan and T-Roc is also helping.

"More than six million vehicles produced in 12 months - there is one thing that this shows above all: our plants and employees are continually improving their production competence," said Thomas Ulbrich, member of the Volkswagen board of management.

"We have top teams in production which successfully master growing demand from customers."

The production results demonstrate the incredible breadth of brands under the Volkswagen Group umbrella. Earlier this month, Bugatti celebrated reaching its production goals, delivering 70 cars during 2017.
