Mini to launch baby SUV in 2021 – report
Mini is said to be plotting a new SUV to slot below the Countryman, complete with a pure-electric powertrain, according to a new report out of the UK.
Auto Express cites a "source close to Mini", claiming the new model will launch around 2021 riding on the company's next-generation platform.
The report adds Mini's sub-Countryman crossover will likely have similar proportions to the current five-door Hatch, which means it should measure just over 4.0 metres in length.

Such a model would compete with an array of baby SUVs like the upcoming Volkswagen T-Cross, the Nissan Juke and Mazda CX-3.
The new SUV will follow the upcoming all-electric Mini Hatch, which is set for release in 2019 and was previewed by the Mini Electric Concept shown at this year's Frankfurt motor show.
Additionally, the new platform liekly to underpin the new crossover could serve as the basis for the next-generation of the BMW Group's UKL models - including the BMW 1 Series, 2 Series, X1, X2, along with the wider Mini range.
