Nissan NV marks brand’s US entry in to commercial van sector

Nissan have entered the commercial van sector in the United States this week, announcing the upcoming launch of its new lineup of NV vans.

To be available in three specification grades, two roof heights, and with the choice of a 4.0-litre V6 or 5.6-litre V8 petrol engine, the Nissan NV van range is set to challenge the likes of market stalwarts including the the Ford E-Series and Chevrolet Express.

The Nissan NV vans are a body-on-frame unit offering a long list of customised upgrades and functional features.

The entry-level Nissan NV1500 is available only in standard roof height, while the mid-spec NV2500 HD and top-spec NV3500 HD offer a taller roof that allows an adult to stand in the cargo area. All three models are available with the choice of either powerplant, both of which are mated exclusively to a five-speed automatic transmission. Nissan has not yet released performance or fuel economy figures.

Inside, the Nissan NV offers two captain's chair-style seats with a stylish dashboard and generous legroom. The interior also doesn't need to be dismantled to access the powertrain, a major setback in some of the NV's direct competitors.

Up back, an optional pre-wiring system will allow aftermarket outfits to access the vehicle’s electrical system from the cargo bay. Payload figures have not yet been released, though we expect upwards of 1000kg. Pricing will be available shortly.

Currently, Nissan have no plans to sell the NV van range here in Australia.
