GM has closed the gap between its flagship Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and the Zo6 by introducing the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Cabon Limited Edition model.

With production limited to just 500 examples, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon combines the road-holding and braking of the ZR1 with the naturally-aspirated engine of the Z06.

The Corvette Z06 Carbon features Brembo carbon ceramic brakes with specific dark gray metallic calipers from the ZR1 and black 20-spoke 19-inch front/20-inch rear wheels wrapped in Michelin PS2 rubber.

It will also include Magnetic Selective Ride Control for the first time on the Z06 along with enhanced cooling and a special carbon pattern engine cover.

Customers will be able to choose between two exclusive exterior finishes – Inferno Orange and the all-new Supersonic Blue.

The outside of the Corvette Z06 Carbon has received the full ZR1 makeover with black headlamps and mirrors, a ZR1-style body color spoiler, body color door handles, carbon fiber raised hood, and black carbon fiber rockers and splitter.

Inside, the Corvette Z06 Carbon is finished in a combination of leather and suede complemented by blue or orange seat stitching to match the exterior color chosen.

Other features include a unique steering wheel emblem, sill plate and logoed headrest with suede used on the steering wheel, shifter, seat inserts, armrests and doors.

For buyers that miss out on a genuine Corvette Z06 Carbon, an optional Z07 performance package that includes the mechanical upgrades introduced on the Z06 Carbon can be added to a regular 2011 Z06.

The 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition adds to the Z06, Grand Sport coupe and convertible and ZR1 models already on offer in the Corvette line-up.

this corvette has great proportions. When i look at it, the last version of the rx7, the FD comes to mind. It has a certain RX7-ish thing about the design, (especially from the second pic, rear quarter forwards).

this design would look great shrinked down to a similar size to the FD rx7. 1200kg or there abouts, not too much more, would be perfect.

James, the Corvette is also a very light car, the Z06 would be roughly 1400kg, for its type of power and performance that is spot on.

And this Z06 is an amazing vehicle, finally, all the looks and handling of the ZR1 with the LS7 motor. Simply astonishing.

They say this is good for 3 seconds a lap on Laguna Seca over the stock Z06 and with those carbon ceremics id beleive it.

its absolute murder Americans pay under 90k Australian for this machine, im well aware of the reasons it just never seems right =(

If for only one reason GM should survive, the Vette is that reason. I never understood why GM does not make the Corvette with right hand drive- half the world drives right hand drive. Aside from the periodic rattles and its cheap plastic interior, this car is really hard to beat. Unlike the Mustang, the Corvette is actually not retro yet it retains its original roots. A good solid design and a pretty damn fast vehicle which does not take a Phd to drive. Too bad all 500 of those cars will stay in the US with maybe 6 going to Europe – all the Germans I know, love this car.

The ZR-1 is an amazing car, but I still prefer the Z06. This Z06 is the best of both, and looks to be a real winner. Too bad it’s a bit out of my price range.
