With its new generation of performance cars taking shape, Toyota has showcased the performance bloodline of the upcoming Toyota FT-86 (Future Toyota-86) Sports Concept.
The Toyota Corolla AE86 staked its reputation with its front-engine, rear-wheel drive powertrain, compact dimensions, light weight, impeccable balance and strong power to weight ratio.
More than 20 years later, Toyota is returning to these performance principles in order to recapture the spirit of the AE86, sharing its front-engine, rear-wheel drive credentials.
Toyota's European design and development centre dubs the styling of the Toyota FT-86 “Functional Beauty”, crafting a low, compact, light and aerodynamic bodyshell.
The Toyota FT-86 measures just 4,160mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,260mm tall, with a 2,570mm wheelbase - making the car as compact as possible.
