Ford Mustang: Seven concepts bound for SEMA

Ford has revealed seven souped-up 2018 Mustang concepts for SEMA, each with a distinct flavour.

All have been treated to an array of visual and mechanical modifications, but here are our top three ahead of the Las Vegas event:

SpeedKore Mustang GT Convertible (top)

This special drop-top uses the V8-powered GT as its base, featuring a 5.0-litre V8 and the company's new 10-speed automatic transmission.

Headlining the changes are a SpeedKore custom titanium exhaust, Eibach Pro-Street-S coilovers, Brembo brakes, 20-inch HRE alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres (285/30 front, 305/30 rear), a custom SpeedKore grey paint finish, along with carbon-fibre elements in the mirror covers, air vents, rockers, splitters, spoiler, diffuser, 'SpeedFlares' and exhaust tips.

Inside, there's extended carbon-fibre trimmings throughout the cabin, along with a Gabes' Interiors custom 'Bomber Brown' interior trim.

Tucci Hot Rods Mustang GT

Next up is a Mustang GT Fastback given a nip and tuck by Tucci Hot Rods. Thanks to its Hellion twin-turbo kit, aerodynamic additions and uprated mechanicals, this matte-grey coupe is claimed to be capable of hitting 200mph (322km/h) on the drag strip.

Modifications include a new exhaust system by Ford Performance and Borla, RideTech triple-adjustable air suspension, Wilwood Aero six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes, Ford Performance front and rear sway bars, 19-inch Forgeline GTD1 alloy wheels wrapped in Hoosier 265/35 front and 315/35 rear tyres, John's Auto Restoration exterior paint, a new wing and rear diffuser from Tucci Hot Rods, along with Ultimaker 3D-printed bonnet vents.

Coupled with a Tucci Hot Rods eight-point roll cage, racing harnesses and a parachute, the company says this Mustang will "reach top speeds while the air-conditioning is running". Sounds cool.

DRAGG Mustang Ecoboost

Our third and final pick is this police-themed concept from Drag Racing Against Gangs and Graffiti (DRAGG), a non-profit youth-oriented automotive after-school program.

Using the turbocharged Mustang EcoBoost Fastback as a base, the concept features a 'Ford Performance by Borla' exhaust system, Ford Performance lowering springs, Eibach sub-frame, rear sway bars by America Muscle, Wilwood six-piston high-performance brakes, 20-inch Velgen alloy wheels with 275/30 front and 305/30 rear Michelin rubber, a custom body kit and police accessories like emergency lights and a push bar.

Inside, the DRAGG Mustang features a leather interior, sports pedal kit and a Kicker audio system.
