Volkswagen CrossGolf – Geneva 2010

After taking the covers off its CrossPolo last week, Volkswagen have upstaged its smaller sibling with the unveiling of the CrossGolf at the Geneva Motor Show.

Sharing the stage with CrossPolo, CrossGolf is the sixth model in the current generation Golf family that now includes long wheelbase Golf Plus, Golf Wagon, Golf R, Golf Hatch and Golf GTI.

Based on the Golf Plus, this new CrossGolf shares much of the design intent with CrossPolo, and as such features a more robust all-terrain look and increased ride height.

The engine lineup consists of both petrol and diesel options - as per the current Golf Hatch range, and offers a spread of outputs from 77kW to 118kW. Engines are mated to six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG transmissions.

CrossGolf boasts several key design changes over the model on which it is based including unique front and rear bumpers, front foglamps, larger air intakes, wheelarch extensions, new side sills, chrome wing mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Optional equipment includes leather upholstery, bi-xenon headlamps, a rearview camera and Park Assist.
