BRABUS E V12 Coupe – World’s Fastest GT

By Anthony Crawford |

Take it from me, premium German Mercedes-Benz tuner BRABUS are responsible for some of the world’s fastest cars and their latest effort, the hyper-powered E V12 Coupe, is no exception.

I seriously doubt whether the engineers at Mercedes-Benz in Germany ever envisaged a monstrous BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo engine would ever power their rather sedate mid-size E-Class sedan.

Let me give you numbers on this four-door Autobahn gobbler 800 hp (588 kW) and peak torque of 1,420 Nm from a mind blowing 2,100 rpm. It might just as well be nuclear powered, with a top speed in excess of 370km/h (230 mph) and 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds.

The basis for the ferocious powerplant is the twelve-cylinder twin-turbo engine for the current 600 Series cars. Of course, BRABUS didn’t think it was nearly enough power and in their wisdom have increased displacement from 5.5 to 6.3 litres with the help of a reworked crankshaft, larger cylinder bore and large pistons.

Underneath the custom made bonnet you’ll find a carbon fibre RAM airbox. There are also two specially made headers with integrated turbochargers and four intercoolers.

With the E V12 riding extremely low to the tarmac a specially made stainless-steel exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts was custom-fitted to the under body.

With such extreme power and torque, BRABUS have developed their own precision engine management system, which controls injection, ignition, and dynamic systems on board the car.

So precise is this management system, that despite the ballistic power the engine develops, it still meets strict Euro IV emissions limits.

Even the oil is special. Technology partner ARAL (they developed fully synthetic motor oil in 1939) developed it specifically for use in BRABUS tuned cars.

The E V12 is rear wheel drive and power is transferred to the rear wheels via a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission and a BRABUS made limited-slip diff.

Any vehicle capable of travelling at over 340km/h requires advanced aerodynamics, and this car comes with a conversion kit, which includes plenty of carbon fibre to reduce lift and provide cooling to various components.

Carbon fibre fenders are also employed on front and back, which include large air vents for channelling cool air to the massive 12 piston front brake calipers.

Given the E V12 is equally at home on the Autobahn and on track, the BRABUS coil over suspension features a multitude of settings for bound and rebound.

The ride height can also be adjusted through a range of 35 millimetres to avoid damaging the front splitter.

Inside the E V12 is no less exciting than the engine. There is liberal use of carbon fibre, the finest leathers and Alcantara making your position behind the wheel a nice place to be.

BRABUS have also shoehorned this monster powerplant into their take on the C-Class and that folks, would be known as the Bullit.

Brabus and AMG allways come out something super special. You get a super car with 4 doors. I was just reading on a other website that AMG got a new V8 too. The new 5.5-litre V8 will replace the normally aspirated 6.2-litre V8. It produces more than double the power of a Ford Falcon yet uses the same amount of fuel. This is a good technology. Smaller engines more power and better fuel economy. EXCELLENT! I am not critisising HSV and FPV but this is how you make more power.

This is old news, i HATE those rear wheel spats/covers.

In 1970 AMG built a tuned 4 door sedan of the 300SEL 6.3, it was and is still MILES faster than a alleged one made in AUS, GTHO at the same time….

Couldn’t agree with you more about those spats, they look rediculous. I drove one of the Brabus SL’s in the UK and I would assume this would be very simmilar: undriveable. What’s the point of strapping a small nuclear reactor to a chassis that can’t put the power to the ground? An utterly pointless car.

Love the figures, hate the exterior and those rear wheel covers –

how is this all not classified as rice ?? look at fussy rear lines and moulds, bumps etc.. ewww

    • brent

I felt that the lines of the latest E class were way too harsh for the type of car it is but in a way once the exterior is beefed up it suits better. So I don’t mind it but I agree about those covered rear wheels – diabolical!

  • Jonno

This thing looks amazing! I dare say no one would say no to a drive of one of these!

  • Mick

This thing is amazing! Only thing that if I were to order one I would ask be left off is those wheel covers, they just do nothing for the overall look of the car.

But that engine, what a monster!

    Crazy Germans, beat that Cadillac!
