2018 Range Rover revealed in video leak

The updated 2018 Range Rover has been ousted in a leaked online video this week, giving us a first look at what to expect from the luxurious British SUV flagship.

While the exterior changes are fairly minor, the new Range Rover gets an updated headlight design with LED beams and a revised LED daytime-running light signature.

Expect the headlights to be offered in several versions like the recently-announced 2018 Range Rover Sport, ranging from 'standard' full-LED to adaptive Matrix LED units.

The front grille also appears to get a slightly updated mesh, though the front bumper looks to be relatively unchanged.

Inside, though, is where the most significant changes have occurred - at least according to the short video clip. Gone is the previous-generation single infotainment display, replaced by the newer, larger dual-touchscreen setup seen in the Velar - and more recently the 2018 Range Rover Sport.

The dual-display configuration allows for media and navigation to be controlled in the upper portion, while, lower down, the secondary display controls functions like climate control and seat ventilation, accompanied by a pair of rotary dials for added ease of use.

While hard to determine from the video,  it's also likely that revised materials and trims will feature in the new Range Rover's cabin. The vehicle shown is also specified with the limousine-like four-seat layout with a large centre console at the rear.

Other expected updates include the addition of a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain - as first seen in the updated Range Rover Sport. The system pairs Jaguar Land Rover's 221kW 2.0-litre 'Ingenium' petrol engine with an electric motor and battery system which develops combined outputs of 297kW and 640Nm of torque and a claimed zero-emissions range of up to 51 kilometres.
