SEAT has unveiled its contribution to the emerging electric car market in the form of the new SEAT IBE concept car.

Underneath its simple flowing design, the SEAT IBE concept offers a subtle hint to the ongoing development of the next generation of SEAT design.

Following the trend to create more performance-inspired electric vehicles, the SEAT IBE concept car adopts a compact sports coupé bodystyle reminiscent of the Volkswagen Scirocco.

Although at first glance the SEAT IBE concept appears to retain the proportions of a typical sports hatch, measuring in at only 3.78 metres long it is actually 25 centimetres shorter than an Ibiza and only 1.80 metres wide and stands just 1.22 metres high.

As a result, it has been optimised to perform as the ideal city car which retaining short, low and wide stance of something much sportier.

The electric motor is found under the cars bonnet while the lithium-ion battery which powers it can be found at the rear, producing maximum power output of 75kW and 200Nm.

While performance is far from mind-blowing, the typical ‘city dash’ from 0 to 50km/h takes only 3.4 seconds; within 6.3 seconds the IBE has reached 80km/h and, after only 9.4 seconds, it arrives at 100km/h.
