The first Kuhmo Future Champions Award for 2010 has been awarded to Victorian driver Mark Fawcett, taking out the prize at last weekend's opening round of the ARC Rally in Burnie, Tasmania.

A multiple Victorian Rally Champion, Fawcett is stepping up the the ARC for the first time this year following a grueling initiation to the national championship, blowing a turbo on his Subaru WRX on Saturday.

Mr John Mills, Kumho's Motorsport Coordinator, said Fawcett won the first Future Champions Award for both his driving ability and for the efforts of his team in getting the car running again to complete the rally on Sunday.

"The Kumho Future Champions Award is about more than just outright results, it is about the grit and determination that is required to get to the top in rallying and Mark and his team displayed that in trumps across the weekend in Tasmania," said Mr Mills.
