Purchased C5 HDi second hand July 2003 with 52000km from dealer. Also obtained extended manufacturers warranty, thankfully. Now showing 100,000km (June 08), highway driving. Replace spheres, brakes, ignition key, and fuel regulator in common rail system. In 2 years cost of repairs has exceeded $4000.00. Radio wont work, problem with the aerial connection in the boster. Dealer and his referred radio installer not interested. Have previously driven 5 Peugeots, 2 Volvos, Holdens, Nissans, Toyotas. Lovely car to drive, very comfortable, economical, gearbox is a barry crocker, but overall car is too expensive to maintain.

I have been driving my C5 HDI waggon for the last 4 years without any problems. With 138,000 km on the clock I have averaged 6.8 litres/100km. The car has been serviced regularly by Corban Automotives, Wollongong, and the service costs have been comparable with the service cost for my previous car (Subaru).

Just love the car but cannt get it serviced properly.
just out of warranty engine over revs two sensors faulty $1000
It is starting to shudder now
brakes were faulty a week after service

Service costs were a factor in my purchase Dealer says $200 as I have never had a new car before and a diesel has a lot less parts to tune never had a service under $500

hatch lock faulty they repaired it but it fell out because they forgot to tighten bolts

they forgot to change brake fluid as per service specs
forgot to change cam belt as per service specs

but love the car can any one tellme where to get it serviced Citroen Australia hasnt got back to me yet

I've just taken delivery of a 2007 C5 Wagon demonstrator with just 7,000kms on it from Zagames Brighton. Sad to hear of other's bad experiences - I've always liked Citroens and had decided to buy a 12 month old one, second hand, 49,000kms for AUS$40,000. I'm told that on the road, new, they're around AUS$ 60,000 so I thought "good deal". Not so. I called into Zagames (genuine Citroen dealer at Brighton, Vic.)& told them I was buying a second-hand C5 wagon and would like a C5 brochure as this was a current model. Zagame Sales Manager (very, very competent lass)points out a demonstrator & tells me I can have it for AUS$ 45,000 as next year's C5 is due out soon & they have runout deals. Excellent! I've had Jaguars, BMW5&7, Mercedes S320("Dianna car") and drive a Humber Super Snipe at the weekends (car nut). Believe me, this C5 is an absolute gem. I've already done 5,000kms and I haven't finished reading the instruction book - no need to - this car does everything automatically anyhow! And fuel economy - sensational!! In a word: Comfort, style, features, economy AND IT'S NOT THE SAME AS EVERY OTHER CAR ON THE ROAD!!

We had the same problem with our 2003 citreon c5. It's a petrol, big mistake. Citreon took 2 weeks to figure out what was wrong, and another month to order parts in and fix it. When I told them I was un happy with the car and I was going to sell it, they asked me why..... Good work citreon *roll eyes*

mechanical probs with this vehicle & after sales service (lack of )

We purchased a citroen c5 hdi estate in jan when xenons & parking sensors were options but had to wait approx 6 months for the car to arrive by which time these were std! no discounts.Anyway three months in the car begins to shudder violently when driven citroen assist tows it to the nearest dealer (lance dixon ) no replacment car is offered & we are told to sort it out with the dealer who informs us they have no spare cars & cannot tell us when our car will be fixed so hire a car!During the whole episode we are given the impression that it is unreasonable to expect a loan car because we are reminded that the warranty states you must over 100kms away from your home for them to provide one. We are only aprox 50km away from the dealer so its our problem!!!Thanks citroen
