The success of Mahindra’s TR-series pickups (“Pik-Up” to you Aussies) in the US will be based on how many people would rather buy a Ranger-sized Mahindra Diesel pickup truck instead of buying a full-sized F-150.

Since there are no mid-sized Diesel-powered pickup trucks offered in the US, Mahindra – despite the “third-world” image – has a chance to tap into a potentially profitable uncharted segment of the US small truck market.

I’d consider a Mahindra if it would only show up on a dealer’s showroom floor… Or wait for Ford to jump in with the “World Car” Ranger once they saw Mahindra making a buck or two with their Diesel trucks.

Ford has stepped back (again) from their statement that the Global Ranger will not be sold in the US, though it’s still highly unlikely they will sell it in the US.

Ford is afraid that a new Ranger would take away sales of the F150 which is their bread and butter and jeopardize the F150′s title of Best Selling Vehicle for the 30+ years or whatever it is.

Their goal is to push Ranger customers into F150′s. As a US Ranger owner myself, I can tell you that I’m not going to buy an F150. I like the Ranger’s size so if we don’t see the T6 then my next vehicle will be a Frontier or a Tacoma.

You will find that Mazda/Ford will develop this ute together with their own individuality in the bodies and equally involvement with the mechanic’s…

The current crop of Ranger/BT-50 are selling well but have a huge ask against the Hilux but combining the twins monthly sales its in the top 3-4…..

About the new Ranger T6 and Ford’s “One Ford”
It means they will only make one kind of Ranger for the global market, but it doesn’t mean all markets will get a Ranger.

It will want to have a more refined motor than the current one, the guy next door to me has a BT50 and it sounds like a Massey Furgeson tractor when he starts her up of a morning.I am just amazed that a modern diesel would rattle like this in this day and age.

Yeah this is going to be one of those “one Ford” global products but where not going to sell it in the biggest market. Apparently this is due to it being to close in size and spec to the F trucks so they’re keeping their current ranger which is considerably smaller. It’ll be their loss because no doubt it’ll be a lot better than what they currently have, if all the rumours are true. Should be a cracker.

LOL this is the Ranger that Ford have been working on for what, 5 years now? How freakin long does it take to develop a ute? They were going on about this truck even before the *current* Ranger came out in ’06.
