Aston Martin Rapide launched in Australia

While our own Anthony Crawford was travelling the Spanish coastline as an exclusive Australian guest at the Rapide's international launch, Aston Martin shipped over a pre-production vehicle to display to Australian and New Zealand media.

Attending the local launch with Matt Brogan and speaking to Aston Martin's Australian Operations Manager, Marcel Fabris, it was quite clear that the Rapide means a lot to Aston Martin in Australia.

What's even more clear is that this vehicle will carry four adults. At 6ft tall, I was able to comfortably fit into the rear seat with Matt Brogan in the front seat. The level of comfort from the rear is also impressive with passengers offered the luxury of in-seat DVD screens and perforated leather that includes air-conditioning ducts to keep your buns cool.

At $366,280 (plus on road costs) the pricing is extremely sharp and takes Porsche's Panamera Turbo head on, priced at $364,900 (plus on road costs).

While the Rapide looks stunning in pictures, it's simply breathtaking in person. The elegant lines and intuitive storage options will leave affording customers reeling for their cheque books.

The two rear seats can be folded to create a flat carriage area from the boot. Coupled with an elegant mat to cover the seats, the Rapide can be used as an everyday house-moving vehicle.

CarAdvice has an exciting road test planned for the Rapide once deliveries begin around mid-2010. Stay tuned for more details!
