2011 Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible

By Karl Peskett |

We’ve driven, drooled over and loved the 2010 Bentley Continental Supersports. Now, Bentley has kept to tradition and released a convertible version straight after the coupe, making it the fastest four seat convertible in the world.

Packing the same Flex-Fuel 6-litre, twin-turbo, W12 engine, the Supersports Convertible produces a whopping 463kW and an immense 800Nm from just 2000rpm. 0-100km/h is done in 4.2 seconds, meaning sir will have to have some very strong double-sided tape under his toupe.

Even more staggering is the 0-160kmh time – 9.5 seconds – and then onto a top speed of 325km/h. This is the fastest and most powerful Bentley drop-top ever produced and in keeping with traditional Bentley style, it’s still built to perfection.

Taken from the GTC Speed, electrically control Continuous Damping Control (CDC) has been retuned to suit the Supersports, with other suspension upgrades included to keep the Supersports Convertible on the deck.

Cooling and design cues are taken straight from the coupe version, with one of the best things about any Bentley convertible being you can actually fit people in the back seats.

Bentley tells us to expect the Supersports at the end of this year, with a MRP price tag of $531,000.

I think the tougher styling of the Supersports translates well to the convertible.

If only they didn’t weigh 10 tonnes.

Its what the Chrysler 300 wants to look like when it grows up.

  • zahmad

So they kept the four seats for the Convertible…

  • Meh

Yeah if you can call those back seats \’seats\’. But then again who cares? It\’s a Bentley, it\’s a convertible, and it goes like stink. My only slight gripe is the instrument cluster: I get the whole \’old school\’ thing, I just don\’t particularly like it. Would hardly stop me turning one down though.

    Finally…Some humour on car advice.
“0-100km/h is done in 4.2 seconds, meaning sir will have to have some very strong double-sided tape under his toupe.”
It’s always been so sombre here.
Great to see you guys letting your toupe down…I mean hair.

I dont think i will EVER get sick of look at this car….EVER. Beauty and Aggression is a deadly combination.

      Looking*

these lightweight Bentleys seem kind of pointless. i mean they still weigh 2 tons. is it worth getting rid of some comfort features on a BENTLEY to save just a tiny bit of wight that wont make a difference anyway

If this thing growls like the two-seater, the road testers on the ‘important’ mags are liking it a lot, then the ‘super’ wont be marketing BS. A light/ish Bentley sounds very ok – especially with 6 litres to belt.

Got a soft spot for Bentley, they’re doing inter-galatic-rapid as well as old-school limos and not many folk pull this stunt without looking dumb.

Wonder what the finance is like, wonder whether they’ll take my car as a deposit??

    What a rocket….I want one!

it’s awesome ,I have the standard GTC and love it , beats all BMW , Mercs , and Porsche in my experience , even if it has VW Taureg parts here and there.
