2012-16 Hyundai Santa Fe recalled for bonnet fix: 30,000 vehicles affected

Hyundai has issued a recall for 30,450 examples of its 2012 to 2016 Santa Fe SUV over concerns a faulty latch cable could cause the bonnet to open while driving.

The Korean manufacturer reports that the secondary bonnet latch cable has a risk of being corroded, in turn failing to engage the secondary latch.

If the condition occurs, there is a risk of the bonnet lifting while the vehicle is in motion, restricting the driver's visibility, posing a hazard to the vehicle's occupants and other road users.

Affected 'DM' Santa Fe SUVs were sold from 2 April 2012 through 1 July 2016. The VIN list for these vehicles can be viewed here.

Owners of the recalled models will be contacted by Hyundai Australia via mail and advised to contact their local dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
