I was (still am) looking forward to this car, but after seeing images of the new Mazda6, it just looks bland.
Interior wise though, I’d say it’s still got the edge over the Mazda.

It will certainly be a tight contest between these two cars…both very well done.
Mind you the mondeo is a bigger car overall.
I believe Ford overall is heading for a big resergence over the next 3 years…judging by the product they have in the pipline.

The mondeo is quite a sensibly styled car. looks very volvoish. i don’t like the rear tail light cluster though, it looks quite ugly and bland. I still think the mazda has an edge over the exterior styling, and its all up to personal preferences, but i like the mazda interior a whole lot more.

Must agree it looks good. Very bland when lined up beside Mazda 6. Lights at back tad old Mazda 626 and current Hyundai. Do not like front as much as too many various curves every which way on top of lights. If you look at the Kuga it shows up what Iam saying even more!
FORD FANATIC
if you compared the Mondeo with the new Mazda 6 wagons they do look quite alike.

The new Mazda 6 has the advantage of existing Mazda drivers who have been happy with Mazda and willing to continue buying new Mazdas.
Ford Mondeo has the disadvantage of lousy previous models. Many of the previous owners of Ford Mondeos will avoid the “Mondeo” label, I reckon.
To me, the new Mazda 6 looks better. Anyway, buyers will decide ultimately.

I think you may be right Tony C.
Ford has to over come the rep of the old Mondeo, even though the new one is a far, FAR better car.
Holden on the other hand are just relying on their good (??? opinions vary) name to sell a severly downgraded product in the Tosca (oops, Epica)
Oz.
I haven’t seen a Mondeo XR5T yet but the base models look nice on the road. So I wonder what the XR5T looks like.
