Audi Sport reveals R8, TT Performance Parts

Racy upgrade kits under consideration for Australia

Audi Sport has taken the wraps off a range of Performance Parts for the TT and R8 this week, offering numerous styling, aerodynamic and mechanical enhancements.

Claimed to "take dynamic handling to a wholly new level", the Audi Sport Performance Parts for both models cover suspension, exhaust, exterior and interior products, all of which can be retrofitted to current R8 and TT models in Germany from "late summer 2017".

Upgrades available include sport brake linings, brake cooling kits, two- or three-way coilover suspension systems, and 20-inch black alloy wheels - which reduce weight by up to 7.2 kilograms (TT) or 8kg (R8) wrapped in sport tyres.

TT coupes with quattro all-wheel drive are also available with a crossmember reinforcement bar for the rear axle, which the company says improves rigidity and helps to deliver more precise handling.

Owners of the TT S and TT RS can also specify a lightweight titanium exhaust system designed by specialist Akrapovic, with different trims tailored for the TT S and TT RS.

Finally, Audi Sport is also offering aero kits for both the R8 and TT, developed in the Audi wind tunnel.

The kits add highlights on the front air inlets, side sills and rear diffuser, along with a front splitter, front flics, and fixed rear wing.

With these upgrades, the R8 gains 100kg of downforce at 330km/h at 250kg, and at 150km/h the figure is 52kg - which is double that of the standard car. The TT's aero kit is also available with a bonnet vent.

All parts are made out of carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) for the R8, while the TT's components are made out of CFRP and plastic. The Audi Sport logo adorns all of these upgrades.

There's upgrades available for the inside, too, including a sport contour steering wheel trimmed in Alcantara and with a red 12 o'clock marking, CFRP paddle shifters, and a CFRP strut cross brace for the TT - which replaces the rear seats, reduces weight by around 20kg, and enhances torsional rigidity.

Australia

Speaking with CarAdvice, Audi Australia's product communications manager, Shaun Cleary, said the Performance Parts range is being considered for our market.

"We’re evaluating the Audi Sport Performance Parts range for the Australian market, however a decision has not yet been made," he said.
