For the first time in its history, the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour will be streamed live on the internet.

Offering full screen video with all audio and commentary feeds, this initiative will ensure fans have access from anywhere in the world.

As well as race coverage and commentary, the streaming service will also offer behind the scenes views of the event, the teams and drivers as well as pre and post event activities from the spiritual home of Australian motor racing.

The coverage will be served via US based streaming company Upstream and will be available via the event’s official website.

The commentary team for the streaming of the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour will be headed up by local radio station 2BS General Manager Phil Cole and his team, with well known and experienced reporter Grant Boyden interviewing live in pit lane.

Race fans will be kept informed of all the leading action, class results, driver changes, incidents and accidents for the entire event from race start at 0630 on Sunday, February 14.

The Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro is in its fourth year, with a grid of 45 expected to start. The race features production cars in a class structure representative of the mass road-going market. BMW, Mitsubishi, Ford, Holden, Nissan and Subaru will compete for outright honours.

I dare someone to watch the whole 12 hours

  • Will

This is really good. This formula is so much more relevant to enthusiasts whom aspire to own/own machines and get a bar as to how they perform on the track. The machines are close to road spec. It is a shame however that it does not get the same media billing as the superbores.

  • Azza212

Agree, although with this extra coverage, more sponsors should be jumping in, which should elevate it somewhat.

    • toxic_horse

They should change the bathurst 1000 to use these cars.

      • Azza212

I’d keep the v8’s, mainly due to the parity…

        • toxic_horse

That’s what makes them so boring.

          • David

No, parity delivers closer racing. You can’t argue with that.

        • Wazza

But the cars are to much of the same thing, bar the motors. 5l v 5l, really both got the same horsepower and torque figures,

          • MP

Except that V8 supercars is same vehicle different grille and tail lights.

When you cut and shut a car, extract exact engine power and match aero exactly to be in “parity” it is a bore. Production racing as touring cars originally were should be whose car is a better handling, better braking, better speed and better reliability doing all this under pressure.

V8 Supercars is a great show and thus money spinner…but to purists its rubbish.

  • noj

    Now this is real racing.

    • freddo

Everybody talks about how good it is but when I went 2 years ago there wasnt anybody there….and it was quite boring.

  • Falcodore

So i’m guessing none of the tv networks are covering this event then?

I’m surprised One HD isn’t televising it, afterall they showed about half the Daytona 24hr race last weekend.

    • adam5700

yeah your right, they want to promote this thing but they wont show it on tv. its the middle of summer on a sunday arvo, its real cars having a real race every real bloke and his dog would hav enjoyed sitting down with a coldie and watch it… guess they are not that smart.

  • Glen

Channel 10 used to televise the original 12 hour live at easter. I used to get up at 430 in the morning to watch the start. The telecast would cover the 1st hour then take a break and come back for the last 6 hours. They were great races with those rx7’s and porsche 968, Nissan GTR and especially the giant killing Ford Laser TX3 Turbo’s.

  • Hugh Jorgan

Great news. Last year I was looking everywhere on the internet to be sadly dissappointed. Let’s hope they’ve got enough bandwidth to support the demand.

Real cars, race prepared! Whilst parity does equal closer racing, V8 supercars have gone too far away from the road cars (5L engine, live rear axle, etc etc). They get pretty good parity in V8 utes and other series, without going to the extremes that V8 supercar have.

Oh 12hrs of motor racing around THE mountian, this will be the best valentine’s day yet! It would be even better if we could afford to be there live. Yes I am going to try and watch all 12hrs, just going to be difficult to see every minute with the kids at home. Just simply awesome that we get a chance to see the race Thanks

  • Snowman

Great job to all concerned RE: the broadcast! It was good to tune in at various times during the day to check out what was going on, and luckily I turned it on in time to catch the tree falling across Conrod Straight! Bathurst never fails to surprise :)

  • Large Rwd Aussie Car

    What a great result 4 me,I got 4th and 6th in the wet Vs a host of 4wd turbo’s…long live me…..

  • KSouth

Does anyone know where i can get live streaming of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000?

    • Why?

Nah, but why anyway? The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 is the “real deal” and it’s got TELEVISION coverage.

(Sure the 12 hr is good racing but nobody wants to pay to go see it and they can’t sell enough advertising to televise it – don’t shoot me, I’m just the messenger)

  • adam5700

With the 10,000 channels we have now sure one of them coulc have televised it instead of having to watch it on the pox internet

  • David

Great concept. real car racing, with only  a few token Aussie taxis.

This should become THE feature race of the Mt Panorama circuit and leave the taxi racing to the diehards. After all, in a few short years, car manufacturing will no longer exist in Australia. What then? Will they start racing 4,5,10 year old models in Super V8.

The are motoring fans who don’t drive utes and don’t identify as “Ford” or “Holden” [s-o-o 1960’s]. Bring back real racing. I would love to see one of these Audis lining up beside a Nissan GTR, A Porsche and  a Ferrari in the Big Race.
