Holden has recorded a 20 per cent rise in sales this January compared to the same month last year according to official figures released today by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

The figures show Australians purchased a total of 10,468 Holden’s during January, with Holden Commodore (3241 units), Holden Captiva (1421 units) and Holden Barina (1379 untis) all selling especially well.

Holden’s Executive Director of Sales and Marketing John Elsworth said overall it was the best monthly sales result since January 2007.

“We’re planning a big year and this is a fantastic start,” Mr Elsworth said.

“The sales momentum we saw developing in December last year looks like it has carried over into the new year.

“We’ve grown our market share to 14.1% of what is a crowded and competitive market and we’re pleased with how we are tracking across our model range.”

Lets face it, the majority of rednecks would buy a polished turd if it had a Holden badge on it – oh hang on – they already do!

Robin i think you are confusing your Toyotas with your Holdens there bud.

Polish a turd and put a Toyota badge on it and hey presto you have a market leader.

Why no mention of the Cruze. Btw to all the Holden haters out there, it just goes to show that regardless of what you say, people like Holden’s and will buy them.

birdie, tell me where else (apart from a Ford dealer) I can buy a potent, five-seat, RWD sedan for under $50k. For many people, Holdens (and Fords) tick more boxes than other cars.

The only reason to buy a Big Mac mobile is if you tow or are obese.

BTW take fleet sales out of the equation and you’ll see how many provate buyers purchase 100% American owned Holdens.

They still cant make a profit…….anyone can sell cars if they are selling them at no profit. Commodore sells 75% to fleets at no profit. And remember……Obama GM australia count vehicles delivered to dealers as sales, even if they are sitting in the yard not sold!! Just like they fudge their power and fuel economy figures they fudge their sales figures……..you just cant believe anything they say!!

thats good news even if they are fudging there sales .. but it mean we are toward a healthy industry again.

Just read somewhere else that the 2011 Captiva will have the 3.0 SIDI and a new 2.2 TDI…

Sick news. Where’d u hear the news about the engines from???

Interior is also getting a makeover too. Can’t wait. Go HOLDEN!

Is that just plain sick or fully sick? Would you like a subwoofer with that? Seriously tho, a 3.0 SIDI will do worse in the Craptiva than the Commodore, extra friction and inertia from the driveline, more weight to carry around, what a joke – It’ll suck thru juice like a sailor on shoreleave.

Heaps good news for Holden. Commodore still held on to no.1 position which is heaps good. Cruze still sold 2,273 cars, Captiva & Barina also did heaps well. Just goes to show people don’t really care where the Holdens are made. 2010 is a big year for Holden – Barina Spark, 2011 Barina, VF Commodore, 2011 Captiva, Upgrade of Statesman/Caprice. Can’t wait. I reckion Holden will overcome Toyota in the coming months :D I’d have any othe rcra manufactor in No.1 Position other than Toyota. Go HOLDEN!

Anyone got Vfacts January 2010 for the following: Rodeo, Viva, Astra, Twintop, Epica, Colorado, Statesman, Caprice, Combo

Holden no longer sell astra’s and the Twintop. Also rodeo is now Colorado, Viva was replaced by the Cruze. Cant help you out with the Statey twins though.

Yeh i am a holden fan & i do know what Holden make thank you very much. Theres this thing called being discontinued but they still sell months after being discontinued in very low numbers, thats why i listed them.

So you reckon my chances of finding a Rodeo are pretty good then???

            says:

I don’t think so. Last time i got figures for Rodeo a couple months back it didn’t sell anything + it went out more than year ago, but i mean astra, twintop & viva are still around in very very limited numbers.

            says:

So why did you list Rodeo????

“noj” has just had their point proven.

I doubt you will find a Viva either, and if you do its because they havent done a dump run yet

          • -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Byron
            says:

I listed Rodeo because there is always the chance that it still may sell but highly unlikely & with the viva i agree with Andrew M, but theres always the possibility that there is a couple vivas still lurking around but i doubt it.

Whats are the January ’10 vfacts for: Epica, Colorado, Combo, Statesman, Caprice??? Anyone know

you might have to refine your request further because I doubt any Epicas will register.
They barely registered when they were on the product list, let alone since they were cut how many months ago????

I’m not buying a Holden until they start importing the Camaro, Corvette, or turn that ’04 Twin Turbo Toranna concept into a production model.
