TVR sports car teased again ahead of September 8 reveal

The upcoming sports car from reborn British company TVR has been teased again, ahead of its reveal at this year's Goodwood Revival event in September.

Scheduled to be unveiled on September 8, the new TVR will be displayed alongside a range of historic models from the British sports car firm, who is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. The teaser image (top) depicts a side-mounted exhaust outlet - hinting at the new vehicle's performance intentions.

TVR has also released some new details regarding the performance potential of its new model, including a 0-60mph (0-96km/h) claim of "less than" 4.0 seconds, and a top speed of 200mph (322km/h).

We already know the new TVR will be built around a lightweight carbon-fibre chassis, and feature a naturally-aspirated dry sump 5.0-litre V8 engine co-developed with Cosworth.

The company also says its sports car will weigh around 1200 kilograms, and be priced at under 90,000 pounds ($155,773) for the special launch edition model.

"We are incredibly excited to be unveiling the new car at the Goodwood Revival. It’s the first time a global launch of a new car has occurred at the event, and it seems an entirely appropriate place for us to do it," said Les Edgar, chairman of TVR.

"After a series of secret private viewings organised for the benefit of existing customers for the new car, we know that we have a surefire hit on our hands, and very much look forward to seeing the public reaction in September."

It's still unknown what this new car will be called, though reports out of the UK last month speculate the company's iconic Griffith badge could be revived with the upcoming sports car - after the name's trademark was recently renewed.
